People calling in with their own "bits"...
« on: October 15, 2007, 08:34:27 PM »
It seems like many people call into the Best Show and try out their own comedy bits, which generally end in failure.  Has anyone ever called in wih a bit that was actually humorous?  I've listened through the archives and have yet to find anyone who has called in with a funny voice (with the exception of Petey) and found it funny.

As far as I can tell, Akiva Smirnoff was a "civilian" bit that actually ended up fairly humorous.

But let's not encourage this type of thing by acknowledging it in public, eh?

the Mr. T guy is funny to me, just cause i know someone who used to use one of those on his radio show a lot.

i thought Kid Kansas was funny too.

No Steinberg call was ever amusing no matter what voice or bit he tried. Akiva was just painful and unfunny.

Ethan from Port Morris High School's The Patriot Press.

Gordon from South Dakota's payola bits.

I believe that Akiva = Steinberg.  And yes, = unfunny.  Hoo boy.

I also found the Mr. T guy amusing because he seemed to be able to sense Tom's lowest point and call in right there.  That's comedic timing.

Kid Kansas contributed to one of my favorite moments on the show, where he and Captain Jack are talking incessantly and Tom slowly turns them down and breaks into song.

YES.

Are those arrows or greater than signs?

Please tell me that this is some sort of evolutionary chain.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Greater than, baby.  I use the "<" and ">" symbols exclusively as less than/greater than.  As I stated elsewhere, when I make an arrow, you'll know it.

I really do want it to be some sort of d/evolutionary chain, though.  Will some enterprising soul pleeeeeease make one of those "Ascent of Man" graphics with those five for the art contest?
