I agree with mcphee. Queen are superb. The song "Sheer Heart Attack" is a monster 3-minute buzzbomb.

I nominate Closing Time by Semisonic. Ugh.

That one is pretty craptacular. The drummer of that band wrote a book about his experiences w/ them, which makes it the book I least want to read, behind Mein Kampf and Atlas Shrugged.

I read it not knowing anything about the band (including the song in question) and it's actually pretty good. Nothing essential, but a nice, less acerbic companion piece to Steve Albini's infamous "Some of your friends are probably this fucked" MRR article.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

I like early Queen.  Sheer Heart Attack is pretty great.  Not a fan of A Day At The Races, News Of The World and, generally, stuff after that.

This is either the best or the worst song ever. I am having trouble deciding.

canadian content (youtube embedding not working)

at some point there was a whole subgenre of 'senstive thug' r-n-b coming from the toronto suburbs. somebody should get on compiling that. anyhow, this is a particularly creepy standout:

sideproject from i mother earth frontman edwin. i mother earth rivals only moist and our lady peace in their earnestness and flat-out unenjoyableness. edwin and the pressure were (are?) awful too, but in a somewhat different way:

I feel like the song itself is pretty typical "adult contemporary" pop fare but then you remember who's singing it.
