Best Ted Leo and the Pharmacists album?
« on: March 05, 2009, 05:41:51 PM »
Hey FOT people.

I've been listening to Hearts of Oak and Shake the Sheets pretty extensively lately and I'm thinking that it's time for me to buy a new cd.  I want to more closely examine the Ted Leo and the Pharmacists catalogue.  Which one should I get next?

For what it's worth, I prefer Shake the Sheets between the two I currently know.

Thanks everybody!!!

Agreed. But get Tyranny... first. Immediately.

And don't discount tej leo(?), Rx / pharmacists. If you don't like/get it, it's on you, not Teddy.

I would say it's a tie between Hearts of Oak and Living for the Living, but you can't go wrong with any of 'em.

And make sure you check out the Tell Balgeary, Balgury is Dead EP. It's a lot of just Ted and an electric guitar. Very very cool.

This is a trick question.

The only criteria you need to follow is this:

Is Ted Leo on the TL/Rx album?

If the answer is YES, then it is the best TL/Rx album.

Simple, yes?

Tom.

And let us not discount Chisel. Chisel is some amazing stuff. 8am All Day might be one of my favorite records of all time...

Yes! Lotta good stuff on there. The solo "High Party" is hair-raising-ly good, and his version of "Dirty Old Town" is just as good (if not better) than the Pogues'.

Scratchbomb--

Yes!! It is better than the Pouges, and I also admit to LOVING that version of High Party (Bleeding Powers is pretty kickass also). Six Months in a Leaky Boat is amazing as well.

I was actually going to list them all...

The Treble in Trouble EP is also amazing --his version of the Jam's "Come Baby Come" is awesome.

I feel like such a fan boy...

I just really love when Ted does his solo thing with an electric guitar. I have an mp3 of him doing Dancing in the Dark at Brownies before they closed and it might be my favorite thing ever.

Better than the Pogues?  Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Can we agree to "less drunk than the Pouges?"
