Free comics, anyone?
« on: June 25, 2009, 09:34:55 AM »
I'm trying to sell my house, and I've got 7 longboxes full of comics I don't want anymore.   I'm probably going to sell about 1-2 longboxes' worth.  The rest I'll be mailing out in random batches to anyone who wants them, for free, no catch, no nothing.  There is absolutely a lot of junk in there, but also some real good stuff I just don't want anymore and isn't worth it to eBay.

Anyway, respond here if you're interested and PM me your address.  You'll get a package with as many random comics as I can possibly fit in it in probably about 2 weeks.

I was all about getting in on some free comic action, but the fontastic suggestion to ship 'em off to Heroes4Heroes far outweighs the pangs of my nerd greed.  Hats off to you both.  Yet another reason I'm proud to be a card-carrying FOT.

Listen, I like the troops as much as the next guy, and Heroes4Heroes is definitely getting a bigass shipment in the near future, but there are plenty to go around.  I'll send you some, GeeOff, msg me your address.

also, i don't know how badly the troops would want the 4 issues of the Kid'N'Play comics that some lucky FOT will be getting.

Now I don't feel guilty.

Also, having been in the military, I can tell you those guys spend plenty of money on entertainment.  I'd want assurances that donations don't just end up in the rear.  I'd donate to some cancer kids or something first.

no problem, just send me the address!

some people have asked about paying me for shipping, that's not necessary!  It'll all be going Media Mail, so it'll be cheap anyway, and i think totally free is more fun, right?

Any suggestions, Y/N?  I have a longbox of recent comics I'm looking to unload.  I might give it to an FOT too if anyone bugs me about it.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I don't have any good suggestions for cancer kids.  Most charities want money.

It's just that most Army guys and gals I'm still in touch with aren't poor--enlisted soldiers often make more money than they would on the outside, and they don't spend money on housing or food or medical care.  Consequently, Army bases are full of ridiculous cars and video game systems.

The average guys in Iraq and Afghanistan have it shitty, but they do have iPods, laptops, DVDs, etc.  Maybe you could donate to them some sort of cloak of not having to be in Iraq anymore?
