Yeah, Hut Pod is the Jeff Cooper call I mentioned. I was going to re-listen to it tonight, but my failures with the transcription software have sapped my will to laugh.
If I tried, I could probably make at least six figures for shaking my moneymaker.

Okay, I re-listened to the Jeff Cooper (son of Craig) call.

There's no "the hut" reference. This is good, though, because the call is from 2/21/2006 -- which would be rather late in the show's run to have the first-ever Wurster ref to "the hut."

I did make a list of some of Jon's other Wursterisms in the call:

"Are you strapped in? You have your helmet on?" (Is this one of the earliest uses of the "strapped/helmet" couplet?)

"A real A-load." I'm not sure this one's all that common. I can't recall it being used in other bits.

"Deep ess-hit." A classic.

And, most interestingly, perhaps...

"Madder than a rattlesnake at a Thai Wedding" When Jon says this, Tom laughs and asks, "What does *that* mean?"

Could our search for the first instance of "The Hut" have unexpectedly led us to the first instance of "Madder than a rattlesnake at a Thai Wedding"?
If I tried, I could probably make at least six figures for shaking my moneymaker.

Indeed.  It definitely debuted in 2006, and I am almost certain it did not appear prior to the Jeff Cooper call.

Oh, wow, neat. Finally, I got one right!

I'm certain we'll get to the bottom of "the hut" in the next couple days. I'm going to re-listen to the Gem where Ronny calls in from the political convention-slash-prison. That's an 04 call, so if hut's used in that, it'll certainly narrow things down.

On Chain Fights, Beer Busts and Service with a Grin, the last track with Mike Healy from July 17, 2001 around 5:45 in he says "I'll call your station manager and get the station shut down."  Tom: "Oh that's the spirit!"  "Yeah, enjoy it in the butt hut."
Maybe that's it?

Oh, wow! That's great. I think you just found it.

I just finished listening to the Hot Rockin' Ronny call from 7/27/04. And there is a "the hut" reference in it.

Jon: So, I had to go to the Hut.
Tom: *What* is the hut?
Jon: Well, *you* know.
Tom: Oh , okay, yeah, yeah.
Jon: You know, *that* hut. You’re no stranger to the hut.
Tom: Actually, yeah, I am a stranger to *jail*.

Other Wursterisms in this call...

"You don't call me that! I call you *that*!"

"I had to take a squeege in the woods."

"I was stealing cut-outs."

Yeah, this unemployment thing is really productive.  Solving hut mysteries and winning Low Times hash tag contests!

Thanks, all.

Take a squeege always gets me, too.

I'm also on board with all the different kinds of *fun* popping up lately.

I'm watching Stanley Kubrick's debut film Killer's Kiss, and a characters says "I ain't goin' back to the hut, see". Made me chuckle.
