Woodsy
« on: January 17, 2011, 08:16:01 PM »
Does anybody know anything about Woodsy?  From the Jan 22, 2002 show.

He doesn't sound like any of the other callers.  He had a whole song, The Woodsy Rap, and a whole elaborate back story, so there was some amount of production involved.  But he was only on once (that I know of) and he wasn't really mentioned after that.

The Woodsy Rap, not to be confused with Woodsy the Owl's rap about composting...

Do a forum search on Woodsy. You'll find some fervent appreciation for his talents.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Hah, did that.  I was curious to see if maybe there was anything else he did on the show.

This was also one of those that I recently stumbled upon in deep archive intake.

I guess the thing that strikes me about it most is that Woodsy literally sounds like a disembodied numbers station voice going into business for itself.

Is that from his monotone voice or the phone connection?

A little of both maybe? Probably more the monotone quality.

We--English-speakers--are getting really close to needing a new character to indicate Woodsy's half-syllable prefix in pronouncing "capicola".

There's also something to be said about the linguistic ingenuity of St'om.

"ham... let-tuce... tomato... onion... mayonnaise... oil... vinegar...  St'om... U-tica..." etc.

He also appears as "CC Tennessee" on the first edition of the Patriot Zone.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
