Title: CHICAGO - Scharpling & Wurster at Lincoln Hall [March 19, 2015]
Post by: BadGuyZero on January 23, 2015, 03:04:52 PM
Tom and Jon are coming to Chicago! Tickets are on sale at http://www.lh-st.com/Shows/03-19-2015+Scharpling+and+Wurster (http://www.lh-st.com/Shows/03-19-2015+Scharpling+and+Wurster).

Who's up for a dinner meetup beforehand?

Possibility. Bringing my wife to the show, who has only listened to maybe 5 minutes of The Best Show in her life.

Though she did uncontrollably snort loudly, during those 5 minutes, when she heard Wurster say "you're gonna stink up your khakis".

I'm up for a Gathering.  I'm coming from Cleveland though, so accounting for traffic and what-have-you can I suggest a 2.5 - 3 hour window where ever we have dinner/drinks?

Got my Lincoln Hall tickets. Also picked up great tickets for the Bob's Burgers live show at Chicago Theater the next night. I'm not sure if I'll ever better witness better (or funnier) entertainment in a 24 hour period than what's coming up for me in March.

Yo Josh.  I think there's a couple of other FOTs in Cleveland.  Very excited as well.  The "hardhat" stop on the tour should be the best.  Not like the hipster tall bike or Weird-o-wood shows.

I can't wait. I will be driving from Traverse City with my wife. We got a grandma to take the son for the night. When we told that six-year-old where we were going and that he couldn't come with us, I wish I would have been ready to snap a photo. It was a very cute sad face. He's been listening to the Best Show since before he can remember, and now when a JW call happens, almost with any character, he gets excited and asks, "Is this John Wurster?"

I live about 20min north of South Bend. I'm trying to save my pennies, and, truthfully, have never been to Chicago and am a little freaked out about going in alone. Is anyone either passing through that area, or coming from that area, that I could catch a ride with? (I can help with gas!)

Driving with a few friends from Lexington, KY - super stoked!  Anyone have any good, cheap lodging recommendations?  As for a pre-show dinner, I'm not sure if my pals would be down or not, but if something is organized, it'd be within the realm of possibility.  I'll check back!

It is with great sorry that I tender these absolute and unequivocal articles of surrender.  I can't make it to the Chicago show, so anyone needing a ticket know that there will be at least one more seat available.

I would be interested in this as well. I'm traveling on the megabus from Michigan the morning of the show. I'd love to meet some other FOTs from the midwest.

Here's some options for a pre-show meetup:

Bourgeois Pig Cafe (http://bpigcafe.com/menu/) [paninis, sandwiches and salads]
Fiesta Mexicana (http://www.fiestamexicanachicago.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=112&Itemid=569) [Mexican food]
Noodles In The Pot (http://www.noodlesinthepot.com/menu.html) [Thai food]
The Red Lion Pub (http://redlionchicago.com/?page_id=61) [British-style pub + food]

Each of these is a stone's throw from Lincoln Hall. I haven't been to any of them so I can't personally vouch for quality.

The Athenian Room (http://chicago.menupages.com/restaurants/athenian-room/menu) is a five-minute walk from Lincoln Hall. It's one of my favorite places to eat in Chicago.

There's no way for me to sell it.  Its a will call ticket and I'd need to be in Chicago at the ticket box to "transfer" it to someone.  I emailed them stating that I'd not be attending, no response yet.  If I get a reply, I'll post something but my guess is that they'll just have one more ticket available after 5 at the ticket box.

I'll be arriving in Chicago from Minneapolis on Thursday around lunchtime.  I plan on visiting the famous Franks N Dawgs and then spend the afternoon at the museums west of the theater.  After the show I plan on stopping by the even more famous Wiener Circle to get yelled at by locals.  I'll be checking in throughout the day and anyone wanting to contact can do so via twitter at MinneapolisMike.

I'm coming in from Michigan, and staying with family in the suburbs.   I could be down for a meet up, depends on when I actually get into town.   I am going to attempt driving to and parking around the venue, anyone know if that is just a horrible idea?    The trains to where I am staying stop after 8 PM.

You'd probably be best off parking at a CTA station that has "park & ride" and taking the train in rather than trying to find parking near Lincoln Hall. The Fullerton staion [which is served by the red, brown and purple lines] is a block away from Lincoln Hall.

Good call, I looked into it, I think the Fullerton station can get me out to the suburbs on the Purple line after the show.   It looks like it will take me an hour to get to the area, when are people meeting, I will try to get there.

Let's meetup at The Red Lion [2446 North Lincoln Avenue]. It looks like it has lots of mingling room and I'm unsure how many people are going to show up. I don't want to have a restaurant shuffle tables around expecting a dozen people and only four show up; or have 23 show up and additional reshuffling needs to occur.

Does that work for everyone?

FYI...I may not make it tonight. I am in an extreme amount of pain. Last time I felt pain like this is when I passed a gallstone a few years ago. I've been up all night dealing with this. I'm going to try to tough it out, but going out tonight may not be in the cards for me

Hi, total noob here. I'll be there tonight. Is there some sort of secret phrase/handshake I should know of?

I'll only be at Lincoln Hall, no time for anything else.

I'm not a cop!
