Before they established otherwise, I would have sworn when Steve first started talking that the new Associate Producer was Captain Beefheart. The vocal resemblance was uncanny.

Is steve really mike, just using another personality for a long running gag??? he sounds JUST like mike did! and then Tom mistakenly(or not?) calls him Mike several times every show!

It is kind of touching how Tom keeps calling Steve by Mike's name -- he really seems to miss the guy.

Why hasn't anyone on the boards kicked up more of a fuss about Mike leaving? Even if kicking up a fuss might be, ..."fifty cents screaming into the wind". Did PFT say that? I like Mike. His sudden departure and eerily similar replacement is/was both shocking and amusing. Also the Mafia angle and the disrespectful questioning of Luther Campbell's motives. Discuss, please.
