Hello everybody.
I just completed and uploaded last night to my YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/mrstromer/videos) , a slideshow to the 2001 classic, SMIRNOFF ICE with H. Jon Benjamin playing an unforgettable character to harass Tom. This has to be in my top 10 favorite all-time pieces and I really wanted to share it with everybody who has not had a chance to hear it (and now see it!) The editing on this was, needless to say, very time-consuming, but it was made with love. I hope all of you enjoy it. I am new to this forum and excited to get to know you all. Best Show Forever.

Just watched first few minutes...nice job!
-
The call is from 2001 actually. It was put out under the "Best Show Gems" podcast in 2009. I'm a little busy at the moment to check out the video in full, but it sounds promising!
-
Thank you for the date correction! :)

GREAT STUFF!!!
I was recently delighted to see that someone has uploaded lots of my favorite Tom segments to youtube. For example, his take on Games of Thrones...so great.

Thank you! I enjoyed listening to that.

"Because Manhattan has a lot of Jews."
I had never heard this before. I'm dying. The pictures make it all the funnier.

Thank you! I'm so happy you like it...whenever I need to laugh I always come to this. I've been wanting to make a slideshow to it for the longest time.

H. Jon Benjamin's character is like if you took the manic desperation of Coach McGuirk and combined it with the faux-smoothness of Sterling Archer; the ultimate hard-sell salesman.
-
If also put the voiceover guy who keeps talking about the "tinny cans" as one of my favorite best show bits of all time. I would love to see Benjamin as a guest in the future.

August 28, 2001: Tom Attempts To Interview Voice-Over Legend Kendrick Martin, The Very Depressed Man Calls Again. Also, Overrated/Underrated.
"Attempts" is accurate. "Tony... do they have the DSL line?"
"Summerr solllstisss quidd pro quo. Quo quo vadiss... vadiss"
Also featuring Jon Glaser!

I want to hear this one! Know where I can find it?

Do you know where this is available to listen?

Look up Best Show Archives - most of the old episodes are available on the WFMU site.
Also, get to 50 posts so you can see the DL board!
-
The bit starts right here (http://wfmu.org/flashplayer.php?version=2&show=1013&archive=100568&starttime=1:20:08). (Jon Glaser's character talks to Tom first, "Kendrick" comes in about 15 minutes after)

Also check out Blood Sweat and Real Tears... One of the first episodes. Super funny stuff also featuring Jon Benjamin.
-
Bummer. Blood, Sweat, and Real Tears removed from Archives per David Clayton Thomas. :(
BUT, I checked out the Jon Benjamin as Tonight Show Segment Producer, Brad Lester from April 2001.
Does anyone know of more episodes featuring Jon Benjamin?

THANK YOU Swank Man! :) :)

if anyone wants the blood sweat and real tears episode send me a pm...

So many great parts in this call. Obviously, the drink names are absurd, but for some reason I lose it when he says "I'm here in from my office in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey" and then mentions watching golf and getting distracted by someone missing a putt.
-
Yes! Jon Benjamin just nails that personality type that we all have met (or know) and cringe at. I meet a lot of them here in the city.
-
Everything mentioned here is fantastic. One of my absolute favorite Jon Benjamin calls is February 13, 2001: Tom interviews Ron Garver, author of "Upright Positions: Flying the Erotic Skies" and Tom Gets Hypnotized. Maybe a little lowbrow for some but I think it's so great!
-
This call and Patton Oswalt's call when he was an aspiring DJ working out of his van would be an excellent double feature.

air date on the patton call?

I've scrolled through the archives twice now and I cannot find it again. I'm sure someone else more well versed in the show will provide an answer. It is a hysterical call that builds really nicely like this one. Plus, Patton's character keeps calling Tom "Tommy Gun" which just kills me.

The character's name was the Famous Flamer.
March 11, 2009: Week Two Of The WFMU Marathon! With Special Guests: Ted Leo! Aimee Mann! Paul F. Tompkins! John Hodgman! Philly Boy Roy! Famous Flamer! Therese! So Legendary It's Scary.

Just listened to it. THANK YOU. That made me laugh so much....the blackbox recordings were absolutely hilarious.
