Title: Anyone else have problems with iTunes not updating your podcasts?
Post by: Mike Desert on October 07, 2015, 03:47:35 PM
So iTunes stopped downloading the Best show and my baseball radio podcast I subscribe to. I reluctantly updated from 10.7 to the newest iTunes and same problem. Had to manually download them from the store.
Sep 11th was the last one that automatically downloaded.
This program is such garbage, but I haven't found anything I like better.

I don't know if this is the problem, but my iTunes sometimes decides to stop updating podcasts because it thinks I am not listening to them. This is because I rarely listen to podcasts on my computer. I transfer them to my iPod and listen to them on there (yes, sorry, I still use an iPod). You would think that iTunes would be able to tell that I have been listening to the podcasts when I sync the iPod, but apparently not.

When this happens, there is a little exclamation mark next to the name of the podcast. If you click on that it gives you the option to resume updating the podcast.

Come on, tonyh. Apple knows better than you what you like!

the new iOS 9 upgrade also makes downloading episodes less automatic.  Hence why Tom and Dudio and everyone are being more active on Twitter this week especially.

Just go to the Podcast app thingy and click on the new episode dots and select "Download This Episode", just in case.

You can also go into the settings for the podcasts you're subscribed to, and make sure that it checks for new episodes more frequently.

Yeah, I used to be a big fan of Apple products. But now it seems like they are doing all the things we used to hate about Microsoft 10-15 years ago.

I always preferred Microsoft, but thought Apple did some things REALLY well...but you're spot on, those very things are going in the toilet.

Yeah, iOS9 really changed how podcasts are downloaded now. Please make sure you manually download the podcast if you see their cloud icon.

You can also directly download the podcast from http://thebestshow.libsyn.com/ (http://thebestshow.libsyn.com/) if you don't use iTunes.
