wow, exciting!
however, my excitement is tempered by the fact that Garrett has tarnished his reputation pretty badly by getting involved with mainstream politics in our country. he was a pretty big disappointment as a political figure with the mainstream Labor party (roughly the equivalent of the Democrats in the US). i'm afraid that this has tarnished my view of him as a person a wee bit.
i mean its good that he got up there and had a go, but i still can't believe he didnt run for the Greens (a party further to the left with a particular emphasis on environmental and humanitarian concerns) which is the third party in Oz who often hold the balance of power in our House of Reps (Congress). could have been a really great boost for that party and also far more in line with his art
still... will be interesting to see what they come up with
