Last year my wife signed me up for Rolling Stone, Spin and Popular Science. They all just ran out and I'm looking to replace them with new ones. I would consider Spin again, but not Rolling Stone. I might prefer Popular Mechanics to Popular Science.
Give me some ideas, crapheads.

Gee, you ask so nicely, I wish I had some suggestions for you. But I don't read any, so you're out of luck.

SPIN pretty much stinks, but you can subscribe for like $5/year, so there's that. Harp or Magnet are better bets as far as music mags go.
I subscribe to The New Yorker, Harper's, Film Comment (for its coverage of all that weird stuff Mike likes), Entertainment Weekly, and Esquire, so I can get hot tips on $175 shaving cream, the best scotch/cigar combos, and the perfect summer evening ensemble (price tag: $1,200, not including shoes). The new issue of Esquire features pictures of Giada De Laurentiis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giada_De_Laurentiis) covered in canned tomatoes, so there's that, too. I read a lot of other stuff for free at bookstores!
I can recommend some good stroke books via PM, if you're interested. Some really great stuff coming out of Denmark and, believe it or not, Luxembourg these days...
-
I agree with Magnet probably one of the better music magazines out there.
I pick up a copy of The Atlantic every once in awhile if there is a interesting article featured.
Oh Omar why pay for those mags just look for a certain torrent site.
-
i second the NYer.
i also subscribe to the Smithsonian
i purchase/borrow/read online:
martha stewart living
the economist
the new republic
some people like WIRED.
but for the high rollers, there's Trump Magazine!
-
I only subscribe to one magazine, a Swedish football mag called Offside.
I read stray copies of New Yorker, Wired, Sight & Sound - but I can't afford to sub to any of them.
I'm a big fan of Bust Magazine!
And then there's always Film International. More artsy academic film stuff. I'm one of the editors. Check it out: www.filmint.nu

Gene Simmons' Tongue and
Autograph Collector Magazine

Weird NJ, of course.
I used to read a lot of stuff like Guitar Player and Bass Player magazine, but not anymore.
-
I used to get Real Simple. They would rank things like peanut butter, bacon, lip gloss, etc. They once had an article that showed you 100 things you could do with a plastic baggie.
-
Weird NJ is such an awfulsome magazine. You only have to read the letters section to realise that they'll print absolutely anything they are so desperate for copy.
-
wow, there are torrent sites for everything.
-
I subscribe to too many publications:the New Yorker, the New York Review of Books, the New York Times (crossword puzzles!), the Wall Street Journal and Harpers.
I also subscribe to Lucky, the "magazine about shopping." Don't laugh. Ok, laugh.
-
I don't subscribe, but regularly read rock snob magazines like Uncut, Mojo, and, if it comes with a sampler CD that month, Q. I also pick up Fingerstyle Guitar, and a very low circulation mag about progressive rock in all (2) of its forms, called Progression, but it's really hard to find anymore, and I am too lazy to subscribe. Maybe there's a torrent for it, and its 175 regular readers.

Wizard
Newsweek
the occasional video magazine
I get zillions of crappy lawyer magazines, never read them though.
-
New Yorker and Harpers, thirded. Harpers is really great, but can get seriously depressing and pessimistic sometimes. But it's made me smarter! Also, we used to get Artforum but I wouldn't get it unless it's important for you to be able to impress people by knowing about all the crappy art that exists on earth currently.
-
I love Giant Robot. A bit hipster, but in a cute, not so annoying way.
-

Is this an outtake from Grindhouse?
-
maybe they should have used like some other food. instead of tomatoes. to me it screams Carrie and The Shining not exactly the every day italian.
-
or they just used a Trent L. Strauss set?

Is her name really Giardia?

No, it's Giadia.

No, it's Giada.

she is great to watch though. i learned from her that Italian Wedding Soup is not traditionally served at Italian weddings, but was named for its harmonious marriage of flavors.

I subscribe to Magnet, ESPN, Spin and Game Informer. I used to subscribe to Sporting News, but never renewed it.
One awesome music magazine if you are into tons of reviews is Under the Radar. I just started reading it about a year ago and I think they only put out 4, maybe 6 issues a year, but they have really good interviews with cool bands and about 200-300 (maybe more) albums reviewed every issue. I highly recommend it for staying on top of new indie music.

Oh snaps!
-
Um, wasn't Mr. From Knoxville making a little joke?
-
Oh snaps!, indeed.
-
I messed up when I said Under the Radar was the magazine with all the reviews. The one I was thinking of was The Big Takeover. Under the Radar is still cool, but Big Takeover is the coolest indie rock magazine around.
-
Big Takeover is the coolest because Jack Rabid and my 65 year old dad used to co-coach the same high school softball team in Newark together.
-
I like Blind Spot, and most of the time Tokion.
Capricious is probably my favorite magazine out there right now.
Low Card is great too.
Truth be told, I'm much more of a zine guy.

Sweet! That guy is crazy. He reviews a really good chunk of the insane amount of reviews they publish. Overkill? Maybe....but I like it.

Possible titles for the new Trent L Strauss "Everyday Italian" themed horror movie:
Eviscerated Italian
Human Parmagiana
Torturellini Alfredo
Pick Axe Piccata
De-Cappuccino
And for dessert... Killato

I read Harper's, The New Yorker, The Believer, Juxtapoz, and Scum Bag Fag Mag. What? Don't judge. I was in New York, shopping in a record store, and I saw Cory Koons on the cover. I couldn't resist. My favorite issue is #12. I love the Chris Habana (http://www.chrishabana.com/) pictures. I own two Habana screen prints. I'd post links, but it's not safe for PD.
-
I used to read Juxtapoz all the time. Then it just dropped off for me. Maybe one to many tributes to hot rod photos or tattoos did it. Still became a fan of Todd Schorr and Glen Barr.

I recently picked up the ultimate in chicano-gangsta-prison-art-and-lady-ogling mag: Teen Angels. If you like obsessively shaded pictures of soft-core porno women interacting with Aztec warriors, Evil Friars and Conquistadors, or little crying devil babies, this is the magazine for you. It's pretty awesome. Lowrider Arte is pretty good too, but Teen Angels is in it's own league. It's got way more street cred. Some of the artwork is actually pretty great.
