We have a picture thread for what we look like now. But what about then? Here's a shot of yours truly (and his brothers) hanging with Officer Harrups in South Dakota, circa 1975. I had been teasing my youngest brother to the tune of "Listen to What The Man Says" (radio staple of the day) "Kirk, you're the soldier boy and you like to kiss g-i-r-r-r-r-l-s!"
"M" stands for "Me."
Cough 'em up, people.
-
You guys look pissed.

Wait, Fred Flintstone is a cop?
Seriously. I think they took a Flintstones costume, dyed it blue, and added a hat.
-
I look at this picture (of me and my Roxy kitty that I had for 19 years) when I'm feeling down. It sits on my desk at work and by my bedside:
And then there were those years I spent in a roving Big Wheels gang:

My parents have all the photos of me as a child, and even if I had them my scanner is too crappy to get them into this magic box to upload. I can think of two I might have shared: in one, I'm sitting naked in a bathroom sink looking very happy and alert; in the other, I'm holding a ham bone on which I had been gnawing, my little finger held daintily in the air.
Now I want to look through the old photo albums--and talk my mother into digging out her tape recorder, so I can listen to the tapes I mentioned in Petey's Tokyo Sex thread. A good, long wallow in nostalgia: what better way to pass the time on a hot summer day?

If you imagine the glass is missing from the sliding door, it almost looks as if you are projecting an Invisible Girl / Violet Incredible force-field against an approaching intruder. Roxy sees it too. That, or you are one of the kids from Wings of Desire, watching Bruno Ganz mowing your lawn.

Wait, Fred Flintstone is a cop?
The enormous 5 o'clock shadow that all the Hanna Barbera males have always grosses me out. Looks like they just bobbed for apples in ... [shudder]
-
Erika, do you have any idea what you and Roxy were looking at? You're both definitely focused on something. I mean, unless it was Bruno Ganz after all.
And, Andy, to me you look less worried than discerning, a connoisseur of sandwiches trying to pinpoint exactly what's on that Wonder Bread.

I was supposed to be feeding the mousies (squirrels)

That's me on the right, circa 1979 trying to impress some babe with my knowledge of where Rhode Island was on the globe at the Warwick Public Library. Bill "Spaceman" Lee from the Red Sox was there signing autographs, but our interest lay rather in geography and, dare I say, each other?

Great picture, very cinematic. A cutting-room floor scrap from an Antoine Dionel film or perhaps a flashback sequence of Susan George and Peter Fonda in "Crazy Larry."

That beer can makes me nostalgic. Ah, those good old days when you could cut your foot on a beer tab (or whatever the hell they were called--I can't remember anymore).

How many of today's drunken (or "schwilly") youth sing along with "blew out my flip-flop, stepped on a pop top" without having ANY IDEA what a pop top was?
I used to drink (NC's own) Sundrop out of poptop cans at Pirate's Cove Pool. Rulin'!

Plus cans were made of steel in those days, so stepping on a pop top (thanks for that, by the way) could cause quite a lot of damage and necessitate a tetanus shot.
You also don't see dead dogs by the side of the road as often.

Was this kid shot in the chest? What kind of a sick, baby, snuff thread is this, anyway?

Is this a lament or a thank goodness?
In a weird way, both. I miss dogs being able to run free, but I hated the horrible accidents that befell some of them.

Me, mouth-breathing, in the Howard the Duck shirt holding my hamster "Miniwheat." Kirk, holding "Sam", soon to go all Discord and shit.

So, you're from New York? What STATE are you from? Virginia, actually. Check out Kirk's Axel Rose tat, since lasered into a watermark.
-
Don't let this little glue-huffer fool you... this young man was a monster.
Greg From Baltimore, I want to party with that kid, but if that pic was black and white, it would look like a mob-hit photo from the 20's.

Someday I'll tell you all about my night with Ed Burns.
Let me guess, you told him the Brothers McMullen didn't feel authentic, he went apeshit and the next thing you knew, you were waking up in an 18th precinct holding cage like Jean-Pierre Leaud in the Four Hundred Blows.

You guessed it!
Actually I have never been arrested for fucking Maryland cops. Different preposition. The closest I've come to Ed Burns is through my sister, a congressional assistant for a certain Ballmer congressman who is pals with him. She has never seen The Wire but the way she describes the guy makes him sound almost exactly like McNulty, though considerably less sexy.

i think this used to be the thread for kids of FOT, not FOTkids. although, even better, there was a thread of FOTkids. oh well!
either way, i've got to have mom hook me up with old fotos which i was previously embarrassed about until i realized i don't look like that anymore.
