haha! that's quite funny. he's gone through the cough syrup phase, written about his experiences with salvia divinorum before, and there's that movie of him on mushrooms...so maybe this IS the blue period for mr. oldham!
-
I have seen the deleted scenes from the making of this video and the problem was he kept falling asleep from all the Blue

Are we sure this isn't a contest entry?

This song/video is most certainly describing (or trying to desribe) a Blue Trip™.
I dunno, I kinda got a Tom Waits vibe from this dude.
-
Yikes. It's not that surprising, I guess: http://www.fakejazz.com/reviews/bonnieblue.shtml

Will Oldham did an episode of Soft Focus with Ian Sevonius.
Its a pretty bizarre and interesting interview, I am pretty sure that Oldham is really stoned, and after viewing this new video, I bet its on blue.
You can stream the show at vbs.tv .
That is all.

Not to mention his recent appearance (http://www.poolsidechats.com/?page_id=6) on Poolside Chats with Neil Hamburger, and, for good measure, Tripping with Caveh (http://www.cavehzahedi.com/films_tripping.html) (a choice still of which is available for viewing over where my avatar is).

that's the one! tripping with caveh! $3 well spent, that movie!

I saw him live in Chicago and his lack of enthusiasm made me think he was on blue.
-
Will Oldham made my "never again" list after seeing him play with the Palace Brothers in 1995.
-
It was in a pal's warehouse space and Joanna Newsom opened for him, and love her or hate her, she is an interesting performer. So it wasn't a total wash.

I couldn't make it through that Soft Focus interview. Too weird for the sake of weird---not to mention creepy! As for that video: Too Extra-Creepy with a dollop of Creepy Cream and smothered in Special Recipe Creepy Sauce. What is that song, a child-molestation ballad? Nice! How many incest songs does this guy have? I bought an album of his ten years ago and there was a song about dorking his sister (see Monster Squad thread...) and I got off the Oldham-album-buying bus right then. Which was an economical move because he's released 5300 records since then.

You saved millions, not to mention all of that creepy and drowsy.
