"Now, he's gonna need..."

"A little bit of bubble bath."

I love that they passed over "I Got You (I Feel Good)" for "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" for the trailer.

Is it weird that I sort of want to see it?

It's a kids movie! Cut it some slack and go stare at the Darjeeling Limited trailer - that is meant for you.

Besides, The Rock is legitimately funny and I like him a lot.

Tom.

I just keep watching this for The Rock's reaction to Spike wearing a tutu.

Holy moly, I just looked at The Rock's IMDb page. He might be playing Captain Marvel! To that I say, "No." The other guy who is up for the role is more Billy Batson-y.

Query: do you think the lasting legacy of James Brown might be that his songs will forever provide the soundtrack to trailers for unfunny comedies?

Discuss.

I'm at least happy for the Rock that he's apparently one of the only wrestling stars of the McMahon era who legitimately escaped the business without significant physical damage or mental scarring.  Well, no mental scarring until this film anyway.

Actually he might be taking the Black Adam role which would totally fit him better

Even though I rarely see them, I'm always pulling for the Rock's movies to do really well because I think he's a swell guy. He is, after all, the people's champion.

The should have just called it the Punkcifier.

What do you bet he learns a life lesson or two along the way?

Somebody's GOT to come along and save The Rock from crap movies like this. He deserves so much better!

I second that, DfK.

I like the Rock.  I was unentertained by his wrestling persona, but then he donned a dress for a bit on Mad TV (or [/i]SNL[/i]--who knows?), and that won me over.  After that, he was funny on an episode of That 70s Show and acquitted himself well on The Daily Show.  His acting has steadily improved, too.  I doubt if he'll ever count as a great actor, but he has more charm, charisma, and humor than many another piece of beef that has made the transition to the silver screen.  And this is one of the reasons I'm sad about this movie, which looks to be utterly derivative and ham-fisted.

Because of his crazy strength and ridiculous agility?

Not to mention his manic depressive stamina.

No; because he's a UMiami alumnus.

I think this movie will be funny. Kids movies are always entertaining. That movie Bridge To Taribithia was really good.
Has anyone checked that out?

I was actually surprised to find that Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant did NOT write this.
