Title: Von Scharpling.
Post by: Jason on August 19, 2007, 08:00:55 AM
Its time to forget all about last week's drama and watch this, a 37 minute document of Von Scharpling's debut performance way back on February 1st 2005. It includes a rare behind the scenes glimpse as Von Scharpling warm up with an alternate version of Life On Mars and cameo appearances from the Cosmic Cowboy, DJ Terre T and Officer Tom.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Von Scharpling.........

Lovely!  Well, up to the 18:13 mark, where it stopped for me.  Right in the middle of my favorite song, too.  Rats. [Later:  got the whole thing in the end.]

You know, I was just wondering the other day whether Von Scharpling would ever play again.  Do you know if there's any chance of that?

Alright I know I should watch the whole thing but I just can't. I mean after that version of Life On Mars I've had my fill. How out little Petey has grown. When can a second show happen. With the new and drugged out Petey. Breaking out some of his Grateful Dead like jams*.

*as this is being typed I'm listening to 17 minute version of Truckin'

I have to say, and I'm not trying to brown nose, I listened to it live and thought it was a goof but watching it I was really blown away by how good some of it was.

Now that the Big Dipper reunion has come together can a Von Scharpling reunion be far behind?

Von Scharpling has broken up.

When I start my next group, it will leave that group of pikers in the dust. I'm going full-on Lou Reed ROCK AND ROLL ANIMAL next time.

Tom.

May I humbly request you go full-on Lou Reed TAKE NO PRISONERS instead?

I have begun to practice banging a theremin against an anvil, in case anyone decides to go full on metal machine music

Tom,

If you're looking for a journeyman punk rock bass player or guitarist, I would like to know where and when the auditions are being held.

Sincerely,
Gentleman Jim

Yeah, I can just see Tom now quoting the classy Lou Reed (doesn't he have a New Age album out now?): "Give me an issue and I'll give you a tissue. You can wipe your ass with it."

Like I said, always a class act.

Is that Lou's Mom on the phone?

She's scheduling his electro shock appointment.
