This isn't Seven Second Delay. We're planning this. Taking our time. It's a marathon, not a sprint, son.

Tom.

What are the parameters?  Will there be any leads in Oklahoma in the construction industry?

As it happens, I'm going to be looking for a lawyer job next year.  Tom, I've emailed you privately.

What if you live on the west coast, would I be eligible?

I have a friend who's interested in being a Dungeon Master's apprentice.  Will the Best Show Job Fair feature such an opening?

Also, he wants to find a position with a DM who talks with a lazy lisp and has waffle patterns on his ass.  A room lit by only one filthy, bare 40 watt bulb is a plus, not to mention DMV experience.

If the day ever comes where Tom decides to apply this idea to unemployed musicians and form bands on the air, I am 100% in.

Unless people hiring for tenure track positions are using TBSOWFMU for their hiring decisions, I don't think I qualify (I'm full time, non tenure-track at RU).  I am kind of half-heartedly trying to sell out, though.

I actually emailed Tom about volunteering somehow, as in trying to coach people about getting adjunct jobs and that sort of thing, but I probably don't fit in with the format.

I would actually find that very helpful. I sort of missed the boat for the Fall semester and have been trying to find a job for weeks and weeks now. I even took a legal proofreading class in an attempt to find some temp work in NYC that I would be qualified for and that wouldn't drive me berserk.

Do you have a Master's Degree?  If you do, there's plenty of work to be found - it might or might not be worth looking even now, though March-April is the best time.  Send me a message through my profile and I'll give you a couple of tips...

I'm not sure if this counts, but I wrote this: http://unclephilsmovie.blogspot.com/2007/07/joanna-gruesome.html (http://unclephilsmovie.blogspot.com/2007/07/joanna-gruesome.html) hoping it could get me hired to write or do art for a local magazine or something but it's gotten me nowhere.  Can the Best Show help?

I've been in management consulting for 10+ years, and I want to make a career change with a break into the ballet industry.  I hope that TBSOWFMU Job Fair will answer my prayers!!

Well, Jixby, you did do this comic, (http://www.novirginsallowed.com/comics/crazydad.html) which is certainly nothing to be embarrassed by.
That said, yes, this opportunity is extra scary when one has comedic aspirations. (I'm likely to wuss out, too)

This sounds like a really cool experiment for the show, though, huh?  FOT hiring FOT.  I love it!

Ditto, Jixby, that comic is great!  Have you submitted it (or a non-notebook-paper version, though I actually like that about it) anywhere?

I'm trying to break into TV and comedy writing too (if I stand on my tippy-toes from the Comedy Central blogging gig I can sort of make out what the real staffers are eating for lunch) but I think I've suffered enough indignities from sending ignored desperate emails to playwriting colleagues who have gigs on cable series.  Plus TBSOWFMU is all about happiness and diversions and getting to be a disenfranchsed Jersey mutant for three hours every week - I don't want to risk any negative associations.

You guys are too kind! Thanks, I haven't submitted this comic to anything except for my friends' approval. I'm so outside of  the entertainment industry and have no clue as to what I'm supposed to do in the way of submitting things. I'm just trying to make stuff I'm personally happy with.

I actually have a real-life lead on a couple of arts administration (theater) jobs in NYC if anyone's interested.  I think some experience is necessary but it's a job for a relative young'un.  I'll call in if I think anyone's qualified (I'm not in a hiring position per se) or people can just PM me if they want more info.

I know this is a bit late, but I was wondering if Tom has done the Job Fair show yet or is it still being worked out?  If it's still in process, does anyone here know whether Tom is still taking people for the Job Fair?  I really need to find a new job, so any help would be great.  Thanks.

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has new information about the job fair.  I emailed Tom about this but he didn't get back to me yet, so I was curious if it was still happening.  Also, do you need to be an official Friend of Tom to be included in the job fair?  Is that a stipulation?  Thanks.

Sorry about the desperation.  I'm just trying to change things a bit and this sounded like a really good idea and I didn't want to miss out.  Its hard finding related work when you have a degree in philosophy.  I'm a joke on The Simpsons.

Should I be deemed eligible for the job fair, I hope it might spill over into future shows.
If not, no biggee.  Hope it goes well!
