Didn't they reunite a few years back for the Filthy Lucre tour?

Thanks for killing this thread dead, Tim K.  But I stand corrected.  I think I must have blotted that out.

Jason, in your defense many of us try to blot horrible things like that out.

ALTHOUGH, I saw both the Damned and the Buzzcocks in recent years and they were better than ever, albeit a bit paunchy..

Tim K, we might be breaking your curse.  Though honestly I've never seen a thread "killed" by you.

Jason, were you trying to revive the thread or did you not believe something I said?  I imagine you smugly grinning as if we're at the end of a bar in a groupful of people, and I've just said something idiotic about music that would go unnoticed in a roomful of civilians but would be the source of maybe years of teasing from this crowd, every desperate backpedaling move on my part resulting in a cryptic and crazymaking raised eyebrow on yours.

I tend to feel like the really embarassing revivals are where some obviously vital member of the band is actually dead and they try to go on anyway (the source of much S&W comedy, no?).  I like a lot of these recent revivals just fine - Gang of Four, The Pixies, The Stooges.  I could even get behind the NY Dolls' post-Buster-Poindexter reunion.

Come on, Jasongrote, openly embrace the music that you like that is potentially embarassing to you. My last.fm page shows Hannah Montana as the most frequently listened to artist on my computers last week! I might point out that I have a lovely 11-year old daughter at home that might explain it, but what if it doesn't?

Right this moment, I am listening to a track called Kristina from the RICK SPRINGFIELD box set, for God's sakes. I am kind of like the Jesus of music fandom on the list; whatever you listen to, I will give you a good opportunity to validate your taste by comparing it to mine. My taste in music died for your sins.

Right now, for instance, I have Duke Ellington With After All. After that, it's Daniel Johnston, more Duke Ellington, Kaiser Chiefs, The Blossoms, and Last Rites. Next to that, how bad could yours be?

Just be what you are and hope for the best is how I see it.

I can play the recorder and also the melodica. Need an opening band?

Postscript: What follows is a excerpt from the wikipedia entry on melodicas, under notable instrumentalists:

Quote
The Hooters take their name from "the hooter," a nickname for the melodica that is present in many of their songs.

Yep.

You better love somebody, it's late
You better love somebody, don't wait
You better love somebody, don't tempt fate
You're going to push it just a little too far, one night
I'm only saying what I feel, you think I'm wrong I know
You thought I was sleeping at the wheel, I thought that YOU WERE DRIVING
(awful, but mercilessly brief, guitar solo)

Thanks, Dave, but I have to admit that I kind of like all those bands you mention.

I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

Hows about the record un-fair?

I don't even know where I'm going with this, except maybe into the annals of dead threads.
