Hey all FOTs, here's a poster I did... I've never posted here before, and honestly don't know if I'm doing this correctly, so feel free to help me out if I've done this wrong.
Thanks

Doing this correctly? You sir just defined doing an art entry correctly. This is great. I'm printing it out and for my wall.
-
it's really beautiful! i love it!
have you done any other art like this? even if it's not bs related i'd be interested...
-
OH MY GOD
even the fucking detail isn't detailed enough to see everything!
-
Power Pop Pop-Pop!
Love Drudge peeking up from the Hate Pit.
Great stuff.
-
Holy Toledo! That's incredible!
-
Amazing!
Is this a digital-only thing, or are you thinking about getting prints done up, because that would make a boss poster to hang up in my basement apartment.
-
Yankees vs. Mets guys complete w/ ringing cellphone! Fantastic!
-
wowie
-
Amazing!
-
this is truly amazing
I wish it was a real poster for my wall
-
Fantastic! So much details - Tom's satanic neighbor, for one.
-
I love it!!!
-
Wow. Thanks everyone for these reviews; and a few from some familiar names, no less. To answer some questions, Erika from Baltimore, you can view my other, completely un-Best-Show-related-work at
http://brianmichaelweaver.com/
And as for the print-outs, I just got a great idea... how about I ask a few questions, and I'll MAIL a high quality print-out to the quickest and most accurate response.
First question: Can you find Timmy Von Trimble????
This one's kinda easy, lets see who the LUCKY winner will be (first to respond with the CORRECT answer!)...
-
He's in the car with the Confederate Flag on it!
Woo hoo! I love this poster!
Great portfolio, also! I loved the Che Guevara T-Shirt ray gun.
-
I think my favorite is the Officer Tom bobblehead rendering. Great job!
-
Holy moly Dorvid, that was quick (and a little easy I guess) Ok, email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com then post that you emailed me (so's I know it's you)
And I'll send it on over, with some other goodies...
Ok, next question, slightly more difficult; There are two references to Parliment Light brand cigarettes here...First to respond will get the next print out!!
And keep in mind, these will be high quality, 13 by 19 (!) print-outs... on Epson paper!

-
Would that be a carton in the predator Fill1965's paper bag and Philly Boy Roy of the "Cig Freak and Roy" morning zoo program?
-
Jesus Christ you guys! Good job Josh. You know what to do... email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com
and I'll send it on over.
Ok, I'll do this three more times. Who played the Yankees and the Mets fan, respectively?
-
Matt Walsh - Yankees fan
Jon Benjamin - Mets fan
Awesome poster!
-
Ok, email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com then post that you emailed me (so's I know it's you)
Done and done! (i'm the senor.burns email you just got)
Thanks a ton, buddy. It shall be framed!
-
Alright Nick, great job. Email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com
So far these have been pretty easy. The next two will be slightly more difficult (I guess)
For now, I've gotta get prepared to watch this Bionic Woman show. Will it be any good? Let's find out...
-
Alright Nick, great job. Email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com
Thanks, I just sent an email (nickjramirez@gmail)
-
I'm impressed and amazed at how awesome it is!!!!
-
Ok, so far everyone's been surprisingly quick with these... so maybe this one will be slightly harder. Who the hell knows
For a chance at the fourth of five posters (high quality, 13 x 19) I'll be MAILING out:
In March and April of this year, we lost Tom for awhile; the reason for his absence is hidden somewhere on this poster. Look carefully!!
-
the kidney stone near the satanic sacrifice of the garden hose and dogmo's hind foot!
-
ps: love the ABBA box!
-
Damn! My questions are inferior and don't stand a chance against the FOTs. Emily, well done.
Email me your address at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com and I'll send it on out, along with some other fun stuff!
I'll ask the last question tomorrow evening... I feel like it's a tough one, but you guys are scaring me
--B

Nice work, man!
SVA or DIE. (I'm getting this tattooed on my throat)
-
Man I seriously want to stake out these boards just to even get a chance to answer the next question, but I have work.
This poster is seriously awesome, and would make a great marathon premium or something. I say that because I would donate whatever it took to get it. I really want it!
-
The lighthouse! AWWW . . . I hope "Lighthouse Confessions" comes back sometime.
-
We will all buy this on a t shirt at some point. Why not now?
-
I like the little tubes of blue throughout, symbolizing Newbridge's latest scourge.
There are a few I couldn't place right away - the guy with the baby and the guy with the radio, for two.
-
Is the angry guy with the baby supposed to be Mike Healy?
-
i think the guy with the radio might be jeff cooper from radio hut hawking one of his 'pride of the eighties' goods.
-
I'll accept those guesses. How 'bout the guy with his pants partway down and the guy on the phone with the record album?
-
I'll accept those guesses. How 'bout the guy with his pants partway down
Reggie Monroe?
and the guy on the phone with the record album?
Ronald Thomas Clontle?
Who's in the suit next to the Roadhouse poster?
-
Yeah, this is fantastic. It would make a great marathon item. I can't find Power Pop Pop-Pop, though - is he the guy with the Knack shirt?
-
Who's in the suit next to the Roadhouse poster?
Methinks that's PFT.
-
Who's in the suit next to the Roadhouse poster?
Methinks that's PFT.
AH! It's gotta be him, toothgap and all.
-
I love it, but where's Zachary Brimstead, Esq??? I don't see anyone with a hefty enough carriage :( ??? :(
-
I FOUND TVT! I have not found Mahkey Ramone. :(
-

Ronald Thomas Clontle?

Are we sure the guy with the record album isn't Giles Palermo?
-
This is so very awesome. Why oh why did I take a couple days off from the board??
Seriously, you should make a big batch and sell 'em off -- I'd gladly pay money for this awesomeness.
-
Nice work, man!
SVA or DIE. (I'm getting this tattooed on my throat)
I'm in the SVA library right now!
-
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your interest in the poster! To be fair, I will ask the last question tonight at 8PM, to give notice to as many people as possible, and you will have a chance to win the final poster, high quality, 13 x 19! It's gonna be a tough one, if only because I'm going to be very strict about the details.
As far as selling them, lemme get my act together and get some sort of paypal thing up. If there's still interest after that, just send o'er a request for a copy.
And all your guesses have been dead on. Yes, that is Mike Healy (personal fav), Jeff Cooper, Reggie Monroe, RTC (not Giles Palermo), Power Pop Pop-pop, and PFT
Whew!
--B
-
PS I probably have to get some sort of permission from Tom and WFMU to sell it, so I'm not even sure it's possible yet...
-
if you do sell it you should at least give part of the money to WFMU.
listener sponsorship is what brings us the best show every week
-

That's a fantastic idea. I would certainly pay good money for this most excellent poster.
I might wait until the contest is over so if you're declared the winner you can use that as a selling point.
-
yes, certainly. Giving WFMU a percent is a swell idea. But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it...

It is 8PM (in NYC anyway)
And now for the final question to win a 13 x 19 print of this poster that I will MAIL to you, along with some other stuffs:
On the poster, between Corey Harris and the lighthouse where an occasional confession is made, there is a tasty dessert. I would like the ingredients of this dessert, in ridiculously specific details
AND ALSO, what are the tiny red objects surrounding it?
That's it for now FOTs. I've had a lot of fun doing this. Good luck!

Choccolageddon:
Base: Three (3) extra-thick chocolate cakes
Four (4) scoops of double-chocolate, double-chunk ice cream
Two (2) chocolate brownies
1/2 cup of rich chocolate mousse sauce
Two (2) triple-chocolate fudge chocolate-chip cupcakes w/ dark-chocolate frosting
The above is consumed w/ a chocolate fudge spoon
+ NegaCal (secret ingredient w/ Kern's Cellumorph)
Tiny red objects: red pills Tom was supposed to take prior to consuming the dessert. Oh, Earl ...
My lips are chapped just from typing this!
-
Congrats Omar! You will get the fifth poster.
You were 97% correct (the base is made of three extra thick chocolate FUDGE cakes, but I refuse to be THAT picky) Send me an email where I can mail it to you, at brian@brianmichaelweaver.com.
Thanks

Top shelf!
I cast another vote for putting this on a t-shirt.
This thread might be better titled The Best Best Show Poster.
-
I've missed this entry up until now. Woooooow!

Hey, can you make a key, you know, like the kind where they have the outline of the pics with the references so that we all get all the pics and references?
Does that make me a loser?
-
Dear GOD I want one to display in my office so that the hundreds of students who come in and out of my office can see it and swell the ranks.

Dave, I secretly think the same thing when I drink from my TBSOWFMU-stickered Nalgene water bottle in class, though I imagine that most of my students just think I'm a freak or trying to seem young or something. Or, more likely, they don't notice or care.
-
Jesus Christ you guys! Good job Josh. You know what to do... email me your address and I'll send it on over.
OH MY GAWD
(http://www.arcuradio.com/etc/bestshowposter.jpg)
-
Man that looks great.
I actually printed it out on a piece of legal sized printer paper. Nothing fancy, but I needed to have some Best Show representation on my walls.
-
I wanted to chime in with my appreciation for this truly great creation.
I adore the tiny details but my favorite part is Tom's expression: seething rage, simmering disdain -- I Love It!
-
Just got mine, too!
Thanks again, Brian.
-
In the words of a carjacking thug in Grand Theft Auto: "I need this!"
-
i got mine too. its pretty f-ing cool.
thanks Brian - holy crap your initials are BMW.
-
OH SURE RUB IT IN
-
Don't worry D from K, I'm sure you'll get yer hands on one eventually. Josh, love the pic, and it looks like all of them arrived safely. Excellent!
-
Mine came in over the weekend, too, and is now framed and hanging on my wall. Thanks!
-
Mine is unframed, but hanging limp in my brainpan of despair
-
I would totally buy one of these.
-
My brainpan of despair is not for sale
-
Your brainpan of despair will be non-functioning once I punch it.
-
T-Shirt...T-Shirt...T-Shirt!
-

Holy crap, I can't remember the last time Petey said that. It reminds of when Belinda and Hova were looking for a name for Baby Ed. My two favorite Petey Suggestions: Agree Wif Dat Baby and Uncle Baby.
Boy the way Glenn Miller played....
-
Amazing job! I really dig the style of that.
-
just because it's been a while since this poster was praised:
I still really want to buy, frame, and hang this poster. So good. It gets my vote (even though my vote doesn't count) for art contest winner
-
Thanks for bumping this Gagneaux! SO AWESOME.

2008 can't come soon enough.
-
I'm hoping it'll be available at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve!!!
I still think it's hands-down the front runner in the art contest. That may seem crazy (because there's a lot of great entrees...but c'mon
-
I'll trade you nine MC Chris CDs for one poster. Whaddaya say?

::froths at the mouth::
i want that shirt / poster combination SO BAD.
-
WHOA! I hope you don't mind, but I'm puttin this pic up on my site!

You could totally Cafe Press that thing. Or, Brian, if you were feeling generous, it might make for one heck of a 2009 marathon premium.

He was obviously too busy kickin' ass in other areas of his life. :D

How'd you make that shirt?
Btw, I am so excited that I will be able to have this poster.
-
How'd you make that shirt?
i work at an online place that makes shirts, mugs, posters, etc etc...
-
Brian--how do you do these illustrations? More specifically--the poster. Is it freehand, oldschool pencils, paints, markers, etc, or some sort of digital tablet/pen thing, or a combination, with scanned-in sketches and coloring via computer?
What's your workflow on something like this poster? It looks so great.
-
Three things, in order of importance:
--I've been working on an updated version, because the original, as it turns out, wasn't completely print-ready. I added one more character because it was bugging me that I left him out. Who? PLEDGE and find out!
--Second, I've changed my name to Neil Numberman (pen name anyway). That's how it will read on the poster. I never much cared for my name, and there's already too many Brian Weavers out there (in my small town, there were literally three Brian Michael Weavers! WTF!) No, this isn't in response to last weeks show, I've been Neil Numberman for a couple months now. Welcome him!

--Good question, and perfect for my final point. I usually scan in 2B pencil line that I've traced over a sketch, and paintbucket in Photoshop. But there were small yet important details I was missing in the process (especially when making something into a huge poster), and that's why all the FOTs and myself should give JOHN K (of Rambocky cartoon fame) A HUGE THANK YOU!! Without him I think we'd all have a gigantic pixelated mess come in the mail, as opposed to the redo he's worked very hard on, which will look FANTASTIC. And the only reason he's doing it is because of his love for the Best Show! Hurrah John K!!
Ok everyone? Let's pledge the shit out of tonight's show!
--Neil Numberman!

I thought you'd changed your name to Brian Palmer.

Weird! There's like, 4 or 5 Neil Numbermans in my town. But only 2 of 'em are illustrators. ;)
Thanks for the explanation of your work Neil. Were the illustrations in the poster vectorized (or something like that) in order to scale them up without getting them all jaggedy? Just thinking about that sort of thing makes my head hurt.
-
Can't wait to see this in the large-format and glossy poster form in the Tom Fun Pack! Excellent work and awesome detail Brian (or Neil)!

T-shirt. T-shirt.
