Title: CAVEMEN
Post by: Jixby Phillips on September 27, 2007, 03:00:37 AM
I am making a request for somebody to do this:

Could somebody in New Jersey record CAVEMEN for when Tom does his live commentary for it? I would assume that Tom would also get caught up watching commercials and also make fun of THOSE as well as the show. and also, commercial lengths and whatnot might not be the same all over the country... There are a number of other factors that could make this not work 100% for people not in Jersey.

I'd love to make a DVD of these. I actually made a DVD of Tom's Roadhouse performance. It isn't perfect; the realmedia archive's running time wound up getting squished, so I actually had to edit it by dropping in half-second silences every few minutes to keep things synced. I was able to put the two waveforms side by side and that made syncing dialog pretty easy, but fight scenes were a different story; during many fight scenes, Tom's sound effects would come in a second too soon. I edited the whole thing in about 3 hours, which is sort of a rush job.

I'd love to share the Roadhouse DVD with others, weather it's the one I got now or the one I may make in the future, as well as the Cavemen one when/if it gets made.

I like this idea because I always wondered what the Lady Foot Locker commercials were like over there.

I don't think there's a show this upcoming Tuesday, the premiere night of Cavemen.  Sorry Jixby.

Noooooooooooooooooo. Chris T. It's a call in show, would it be rude of me to call in and ask him to do a live commentary of Cavemen for me?

It's actually Dan Bodah filling in.  Tonight I may go see that new Akiva Smirnoff comedy, Eastern Promises, for my weekly dose of Tuesday night giggles.

My night has been RUINED. How the hell am I supposed to experience Man Date without the healing power of the ABBA Box?

Theory -- Tom wanted to watch the premiere in peace and didn't wanted to admit his secret love for it?

Yeah Chris that movie is a barrel of laughs with talk of Armin Mueller-Stahl doing brutal things to 14 year old girls.

Or the fun thats had in a steam room while Viggo is trying to just get a shivitz

Ok, so it was pretty lame.  But it wasn't According to Jim bad.  And don't concern yourself with what the bonus features are going to be on the Season One DVD; it ain't coming.

I say it lasts 4 episodes, then goes the way of CopRock: the premise so insane that it becomes legend.

But I've made pathetic phone calls from behind a closet door before, you got a problem with that?

I like how the one caveman from the commercials kept popping up in little cameos.

Also, I really enjoyed Viggo's range of facial expressions on display throughout that movie. He gets the Keanu Reeves award for 2007, I think.

I went in with no biases in either direction. I didn't think it was particularly good.

It could have definitely used more of Maurice (the guy from the commercials). But then again, there are thousands of things that show could have used. I'll be surprised if this show even makes it to 4 episodes, Gentleman Jim.

I just love that, aside from the Forrest Gumpian photoshopping during the opening, they STILL haven't explained how cavemen exist in our time and have the same mental capacity as we do. As Patton Oswalt might say (http://www.recidivism.org/2007/07/tom_patton_go.html), that's two pretty big buys.

yeah and im sure this has been covered, but they're not even that hairy on their arms. they could just trim their facial hair and look evolved.

Anybody see the Metacritic score for this? 14. Out of 100.

However, the user comments on the bottom makes me think that it's going to be a hit.
