Title: The James Garner Statue...
Post by: Andy on October 14, 2007, 11:09:38 PM
I've been out of town, so I am just getting to listen to this weeks podcast.  Here's a picture of the James Garner statue in Norman.  In the background you can see the old train depot where my wife and I had our rehearsal dinner:

This is something to be proud of. Seriously, all we have is SRV in a poncho... shameful.

You can kind of see the James Garner Avenue sign in this picture:

Wait, you and your wife have to rehearse dinner?

What are you, richer than Laurie?

They're just really, really awkward socially, hence the need for practice.

A good Best Show topic might be "who should have a statue built of them in their hometown"

last year after the van halen debacle i wanted to erect a statue of michael anthony in pasadena.

Bangor has a statue of a cartoon Paul Bunyan:

A redeeming passage in Stephen King's It (I think--some Stephen King book, anyway) recounts its destruction.  Made me happy--I always hated the thing, which I saw all the time since it was on the route from my house into Bangor proper.

I think a decent amount of them are.

Jackie Gleason stands outside Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, I believe with a TVLand plaque.

I remember some citizens of Salem, MA were irritated that TVLand was putting up a Bewitched statue, in light of the actual historical circumstances.

Did you know that over a dozen Paul Bunyan statues exist across the US? There are three in MN alone and Paul Bunyan's wife has a statue in Hackensack, MN. That's some deep respect for a folk legend.
