Yesterday, I listened to an archived show during which Tom mentions "Careful with That Axe, Eugene," one of my favorite songs as a youngster. Today, the book I'm rewriting referenced the final sequence in Antonioni's Zabriskie Point, a movie it shames me to admit I've never seen. Needing to review the scene to figure out how the hell to turn gibberish into something resembling meaning, I performed a quick search and turned up a YouTube clip. And it turns out the scene is set to a version of "Careful with That Axe," obscurely renamed "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up" for the movie.
This has made me happy.

I have the soundtrack for that movie. It's pretty excellent. If anyone wants it, send me a message at nathanmv@hotmail.com.

Pfft, I don't mind, Andy. I didn't expect much in the way of response: I only made the post because sharing my pleasure in the discovery/coincidence with the dogs and cats wasn't enough so I had let it spill over somewhere.

Sarah,
To add to your listening experience, and to make up for my earlier participation in the thread hijacking, I might also add that "Careful with that Axe, Eugene" was originally a tune called "Murderistic Woman" or "Murderistic Women." Available on bootlegs.
