i am about to go insane because i keep on trying to get onto the chat but it keeps going wrong! wah!
i messaged Omar and Josh told them how a ton of Adobe Flash 9 pop-ups came up as soon as i entered the chat, and how it made me choose whether to 'abort the script' or not. And whatever i tried, nothing worked, my browser wouldn't even show up on the chat screen.
So, i did what Omar told me and reinstalled Adobe Flash but it didn't help. Maybe after i reboot my computer.
i guess i will make do without the chat tonight.
What i don't understand is that i got onto the chat without a glitch last Tuesday. Does it have to do with the number of people logged into the chat? Because last week there were only 5 or 6 of us.
Hm. i don't...know.
Anyone have any suggestions?
-
What browser and OS are you using?
-
internet explorer and windows xp
-
The only stuff I can find right now suggest to click NO and wait to see if it starts working.
-
Try using Firefox
-
This is the first week I haven't had that same problem, Bonnie--and I use Firefox. I have no idea why it didn't happen tonight and have nothing useful to suggest, but know you're not alone.

Empty your cache, your cookies and then close down your browser completely. Then re-open it and try again.
And no suicide. Suicide is bad, mkay?
-
Maybe if I'd paid for that software instead of downloading it we might have an updated version that wasn't so buggy. I'll put that right this week, also I'll nuke the old chat room.
-
I am beyond sad because I can't be "dave from knoxville" when I am on the chat.
-
I have the same problem - I use IE7 and Windows XP.
It used to crash it entirely. Now it just gives me about 10 windows saying that - I just keep clicking no and after about 2 minutes it starts to work.
It seems to me it maybe has something to do with the icons (like my spinning globe) that appear next to people's names, but that may be just a coincidence.
-
Dave, can't you delete your existing account here and reregister as "Dave from Knoxville"? That would cure your sadness, I think.
-
Perhaps, but I would lose all of my boffo personal messages.
-
Can't you leave your old account and just register a second time under your preferred moniker?
-
Bonnie's the new Sathington!
-
sometimes suicide is the only answer.
Also, Jason if you're talking about an upgrade to the chat software, I would think we could get some donors to help spread the cost out a little. No reason for the guy with the new baby to be paying for our enjoyment.

Bonnie!
Don't buy stuff from Tim Alexander or any other member of Primus on eBay, as it will never bring you happiness, only future shame.
Seriously. No one will ever let you live it down.
Ever.

What's wrong with good ol' IRC?
/me smacks the old FoT Java chat and the new Flash chat with a large trout
-
If you switch to IRC you'll lose about half the chatters.
-
Both IRC and AIM group chats make more sense than these balky java-based chat rooms.
You could always point the less irc-literate folks to a site that uses CGI IRC or a similar gateway.

Plus I heard the dude who set this one up is some kind of foreign mad bomber.
