I just finished listening to Hippy Justice... Did Tom ever hear from Kid Ebay again? I loved his conversation with Tom. I would hate to think he is still in that basement...
-
he dies in the end of the unedited version.

Only theoretically. He says that if he's still alive he'll call in next week, and then he doesn't, but Danny/Kid Ebay was, as we say elsewhere, a "shady character."
He did leave Tom with these final words: "I love youuuuuu!" Charming to the last.
-
(oops nevermind.)

Such a great call.
"I'm gonna try to get up... Nooooooo dice!"
-
The full version is a must. It just goes on and on and on...
-
rockin the sheets

Full version? Is there a version that isn't on the album?

The version on the CD is edited down from the original call that aired. They do this with all of the calls that are released on the S&W CDs.

Really? To what extent are the calls edited?

They address it on the AST Radio episode. It's been awhile since I listened to it, but I remember them saying the calls are edited to tighten the bits up. I've never done an A/B comparison, but I think the editing is usually pretty minor.

I hate to disagree with the esteemed Master of Sparks, but most times at least some complete side conversations are cut out. If you listen to the shows soon after the first Gorch appearance, for example, Tom plays part of that call that did not make it onto the CD.

Of course, you can always stream it 24/7/365 from off of the main WFMU/WMFU archive page located on the front page of FOT.com or here: http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/BS

This is absolutely my favorite S/W bit. I can't remember where I read or heard this, but they said that the bit was supposed to end pretty much right after he fell down the stairs and the whole music discussion was just an unexpected tangent they went off on. Pretty brilliant.

But you can't stream any of the shows with the bits from S&W CDs...

Is that Bankroft? Whenever someone tells me something is "off the hook" or "off the chain," I like to ask "Is it off like Anne Bankroft?"
They never get it... But she was off the chain!
