Title: Tom's Zombies
Post by: masterofsparks on January 05, 2008, 01:18:15 PM
I saw this on another message board in a thread about The Wire:

There is another podcast called THE BEST SHOW ON WFMU and the fans are zombies who do everything Tom Sharpling says, basically. And Tom Sharpling hates Tom Waits and all of his music and has made hating Tom Waits a rule or something.

Apologist thread be damned. I'm a zombie!

Best summary of the show ever! Wait, RECEIVING...MIND...DIRECTIONS...FROM ZOMBIE RULER.

Actually, I'm only a zombie for Brother Dom. Someday I hope he fills in.

I do not do everything Tom Sharpling says.

Zumbies, surely?

I only do ever other thing Tom says.  It's a way of maintaining a little dignity, plus it keeps things just a little "spicy."

What message board was this on?  And are we fast zombies?

Here (http://www.maximumfun.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16935&sid=2d34d0a69b71917062c6a1fd387e11e7) is that other message board.

And you missed my joke.

That you misspelled "Scharpling"? I got it!

I didn't misspell it; the original poster did.  But, yes, that was it.  It's a very tiny joke.

Sweet! I've always wanted to be a zombie but didn't really want to go through the whole ugly process involved. We're some pretty good lookin' Zombies.

And are we fast zombies?

I, for one, am not.

Does this mean I have to start "biting chumps" like on facebook?

I'll have everyone know I did not smash my copy of Fragile in the street just to see how "fragile" it really was, even though Tom told me to do that.

On the other hand, I've always hated Tom Waits, even before I was given clearance by Tom Scharpling.

I call Chris White. The rest of you suckers can fight over Blunstone and Argent.

I love Tom Waits and Tom Scharpling, as previously stated in apologist thread. It's possible. So there. I am not a zombie.

EDIT: But if I was, I would want to be the fast kind. No meandering around, waiting to have my head chopped off. I want to scare the poop out of my victims.

I'll happily take Blunstone - One Year is a great record.

Hold on a second, is this thread based on my off-topic call which was a contribution to the old band-movie topic from a few weeks prior?  It was the battleofthebands-themed zombie claymation short featuring Tom Waits and his fanclub of zombies versus Jay Reatard (or maybe it could be Black Lips, or pretty much any awesome band that isn't trying to be old-timey) and his fanclub of humans.

No it's not.

Don't let Stan hear you say that, or he'll start quoting Gary Gygax and you'll wind up with a nickname.

That would make you a ghoul, Beth. To wit:

But in all seriousness, I resolve to leave the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons™ Monster Manual on the shelf for 2008. I think I've already wrung a little too much mileage out of that joke.

 Happy new year, Lamont.

You too, Lamont.  Where you been?
