January 15, 2008: HOF show, right? Matthew Tompkins had me in fits. Maybe my favorite Wurster call ever.
Someone back me up.

I just re-listened to the Matthew Tompkins call. So good. I totally missed his nomination of Joe Rudi as the 14th member of Ocean's 14 when listening last night.
-
Last night I couldn't get into the chat because my computer was too busy with other tasks to be able to handle Java, so I just lay in bed, turned out the lights, and listened that way. I haven't gotten so much good out of the show for ages. And that it happened to be a night when there was an hourlong call just made it that much better.

Top form. The spontanious rant about the "Whopper Freak-out" ads crystallized my disgust for those ads perfectly.
Nothing like glorifying the mutants that stuff their faces in your restaurant in a bid to drum up more business...proud moments.
-
I agree with all the plaudits. Solid gold episode.
If, like me, you didn't know anything at all about this Whopper freakout, here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMOPj6-4nDU)'s a Youtube video.

I can never log into the chat. I did once, and it shut down my internet for 24 hours (Stupid satellite internet). :-[ I'm anxiously awaiting the universal broadband thing that Spitzer promised. He better get on that.

Beth, we just talk about you the whole time in the chat. Seriously, three hours a week on the pros and cons of Beth. Surprise advocate? James.
You're missing out!
-
I'm hoping "Bro Punches To The Face" is at least in contention for the episode title when the recap comes up. The incredibly brief re-enactment right after that of the firemen playfully beating Joey Beauti-fucco into a pulp was amazing.
Also great was Tom being genuinely caught off guard in the "You know what?" "NOPE." exchange in the earlier phone call.

Hardy har.
That would stress me out terribly if it were true.

the matthew tompkins bit was killer. I listened to that specific part from the archive like 7 or 8 times today at work. Also quite enjoyed tom talking to the call screener kid about the wire. What's his name again?

Todd. Why?

Vance Asimov.

First time ever signed into the chat room whilst listening to the show. Perfection. I will call in soon, Tom Scharpling!
-
- "You know what?"
- "Nope."

I spend all of my time talking about you, Beth, but it's all pro, no con.

"I'm doing fine, thanks, Hulk. How are the kids... and the soon-to-be ex wife?"
-
Weren't you impressed by the efficiency of Savage speak? All that in one relatively short garbled grunt.
-
W: If you have a bandanna, I would put it in my mouth to like, you know, to clench down on.
S: Oh. Great.
W: Yeah.
S: Thank you.
W: That way, you don't look like too much of a p.
S: Yeah. Okay.
W: ...when you're gutted.
-
I agree. Magnificent show this week. Tom attempting to stay positive and continually repackaging last week's topic was very funny.
-
- "You know what?"
- "Nope."
I loved that. Julie's alright.

I hope that tongue surgery has gotten Macho Man back in touch with his early, sensitive side. Also, he kinda looks like Kibblesmith's puppet version of Tom in this clip:

And I'm pretty sure he sneaks in a Sun Ra reference in this one:

Maybe the first guest on the Hogan/Savage show can be the Iron Sheik.
