Title: No Country for Old Men Versus Predator
Post by: chirs on January 17, 2008, 08:34:51 PM
I don't remember during which show I heard this! I searched recidivism...I'll edit this as soon as I find out.
Anyway, someone called in and suggested this as a movie, and I had to do it.

I haven't seen No Country, but I'm guessing Chigurh wins?

I think both the movie and book should have been called Chigurh the Fearstalker.  No wait, how about The Chronicles of Airtank Boy?  Maybe even Stephen Root: Deskmaster.  So many missed opportunities.

Chigurh wins, all right. Wins our hearts.

Root was signed on for a prequel, tentatively titled Man Who Will Hire Wells, but latest word is that they wanted some rewrites, so the the whole thing has been shelved until after the strike.

The sequel: "What happened next to the old guy that ran the gas station?" just got greenlit.

I'd like to see a movie about the 22 years that coin travelled to get there. It could be set against various historical events, like Forrest Gump, but more sophisticated.

That's a good script. Sort of a dramedy like Wayne Wang's "Smoke", with the old guy getting involved in the comings and goings of his eccentric regulars, and then 55 minutes into the movie Anton Chigurh walks in again and murders him with the cattle gun for no reason.
