My friend's dad has worked at the Franklin Mint in Philadelphia for years. She wrote me this morning:
"My dad got called into work this weekend for a coin emergency. Apparently, they stamped the Monroe presidential dollar faces on a quarter blank. Keep your eyes out! If any get out they would be worth a lot of money."
Evidently, it's like a big treasure hunt at the Mint to prevent any Monroe quarters from circulating, because she continued,
"Tons were already made. The entire building was swarming with cops to prevent any from getting out."
These kinds of shenanigans never would happen down at Consolidated Cardboard, but it's funny nonetheless.

You know what I don't like? Those newer nickels where Jefferson is facing out, looking at you. I don't think I like having my change stare at me, it's creepy and they should have just gone all the way and given him Thriller Eyes.
Actually, maybe you could suggest that to your friend's dad . I'd really to get a hold of some Thriller Eye nickels.

just the words "coin emergency" made me laugh. I don't even really care what the emergency was but I'm sure PBR had something to do with it.
