quote:
“For some reason, I piss off the audience. People who like one type of film don’t like to see me in another. Things I did and said early on still haunt me. I started acting at 17, but I’m 44 now and have grown up. I wonder if I am still interesting to watch if I didn’t drink or raise hell, but it’s obnoxious to keep drinking.”
A sad day indeed. I wonder if he's a best show listener.

I misread it as Nick Cave Ready To Quit Acting. I was naturally shocked.
-
Nick Cage quit acting 10 years ago.

Nick Cave makes my heart go pitter patter. Nick Cage? Not so much. Nick Cage's son (http://www.myspace.com/westoncage)? Well, he does "bring the cold darkness from his Viking roots." I didn't know the Vikings came from Italy!

Nick Cage quit acting 10 years ago.
That's a slam dunk.

I love this guy. And by guy, I mean this audience.
-
well at least he did some good movies
that says something.
paid his dues and made a lot of money
nothing to feel too bad about
naming your kid Kal-El......that not so much
-
It IS almost as if he suffers from some sort of compulsion to take every role available to him.
If he's not enjoying it anymore and is still doing it, it almost begins to sound like a little problem upstairs.
Which is a little sad, since I don't dislike him really.
-
as long as he sticks around to make a wicker man prequel, i'm alright with this news.

He'll have to give him woman-punching hand a good rest before this happens.
Seriously, it's been awhile since I saw the original, but I don't seem to remember Edward Woodward punching a single woman. In the brief clip of lowlights of the remake that's out there, though, that's all Nicolas Cage seems to do. Is this a contractual stipulation of Cage's or something?
-
You don't remember when Brit Eckland does her sexy wall-slapping dance, and Edward Woodward rushes into the room and levels her with a powerful right cross?
Me neither. Well, I remember the first part.
-
One of the more galumphing sexy dances ever filmed.
-
Snake Eyes was one of the top 10 worst movies I've ever paid to see.

Nicholas Cage quitting acting? That'll work.
Now when are John Travolta and Al Pacino going to follow suit. No one wants to see them either. Others?
-
Has anyone on this board actually seen Wicker Man, or have we all just watched the youtube montage?
-
I've seen it. It's as bad as everyone tells you.
-
Me, too. Awful. I wasn't a big fan of the original, but it positively glows by comparison.
-
No one should subject themselves to the entirety of the Wicker Man remake. Just watch the youtube montage. It's hilarious, and it's all you need. All the funny stuff happens in the last 15 minutes of the movie; the preceding 90 minutes or whatever is just awful.

Also, when Tom was running through Nic Cage's IMDb filmography some weeks past, he glossed over Matchstick Men, including that in Cage's bounty of bad movies. I don't know if Tom has actually seen that movie, but it's GREAT. Along with Adaptation and Bringing Out the Dead (which Tom also unfairly snubbed), it's one of the best things Cage has been in.
-
Bringing out the Dead wasn't a bad movie per se. My biggest apprehension about it was that it played out like a sequel to Taxi Driver, a movie which doesn't really demand a sequel. It also did not feel like it was created at a significant point in time for that movie to have any sort of lasting impact.
-
I just saw him in Next. He's creepier than ever. I wanted to shout to Jessica Biel to run away.
-
I watched the trailer for Bangkok Dangerous. No Cage improvement.

Pang Brothers, son!
One of them is called Oxide.
HIS NAME IS OXIDE.
-
I know. Movie might be good, but Cage didn't look too hot.

We're even now!
The picture in my head of you saying this with maybe some crazy-eyes and a really pleading voice made me giggle in a big embarrassing way.
COME ON GUYS
OXIIIIIIDE

In the trailer for Bangkok Dangerous? he looks like Gene Simmons.
Like any alcoholic, Nick believes that quitting drinking will make him less interesting. If there was ever an opprotunity to save his life and keep him from acting at the same time, I say we support it.

It can be true, though. For instance, I wish Tracy Morgan would start drinking again.

Amazing. You must be subscribed to my webcam.

Close! I am a big fan of your vlog.
My favourite part of this week's was how you did that for five straight minutes without blinking and then segued straight into a rant about the economy. And your crazy take on the presidential race! Gold, my friend. Pure, insightful, comedic gold.
-
I would actually watch that if you took the time to make it, though. For serious.
-
I enjoy Cage. He doesn't seem to say no to anything which is kinda why I like him. It seems like he has a lot of stuff in the pipeline according to this site.

The best thing I like about him is he took his name from my favorite 70's comic book - Power Man and Iron Fist.
