I could see him taking on both the "droopy" voice for TBS and this "oldies radio DJ" voice for his own show - there are reasonable similarities, at least to my ear.
The first time or two I heard Spike call in I thought he was a "dungeon master" in the sense of D&D. Or was it PFT or someone who thought that? Maybe both. I used to fall asleep on airplanes to TBS (because it makes me relax, not because it's boring), so I have all of these weird half-memories of the show. The whole Power Pop Pop-Pop saga in particular is like a dream to me.

The debate as to who super-villian caller Spike is has raged for quite some time (http://www.friendsoftom.com/fotpedia/index.php?title=Spike).
I believe I may have found a possible suspect.
His name is Antonio, he is a DJ for the Hudson Valley oldies radio station 950 AM, WHVW (http://www.whvw.net). This broadcasts out of Hyde Park, NY, which is in listening range of WFMU's Catskill relay, WXHD. Besides having an exceedingly nasal voice, he hosts a doo-wop show. It's called The Dungeon Serenade. This alone to me is proof enough.
13:00-15:00 "Tony-O's Doo-Wop Dungeon" A Doo-Wop show put together by a real expert in the field. Go ahead, ask him your toughest question, but don't forget to enjoy the great music.

Interesting, EMM . . . !
From an old WHVW schedule (http://www.whvw.net/1stpage/) (Oct, 2006):Quote13:00-15:00 "Tony-O's Doo-Wop Dungeon" A Doo-Wop show put together by a real expert in the field. Go ahead, ask him your toughest question, but don't forget to enjoy the great music.

Strangely enough, that's about how I pictured Spike.

Which one?

Ha! Seriously though the Doo-wop DJ is pretty dang close to how I pictured Spike. Maybe a little more obese.
Listening back to the first part of the most recent show (which I missed live, unfortunately), I now suspect Spike = the Spike fan that called in towards the end of the first hour.
You're joking right? Quite a coincidence about the dungeon and the doo-wop, though.A chubby Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Zonny.
Who was the actor Spike said he looked like?
With apologies to Grimlock, who is right, but I couldn't resist.
I always pictured this:(http://www.toastedpixel.com/comic/clips/zombiehistory/bladepearl.jpg)
