This is old, so maybe everyone knows about it already, but I just saw that The Onion borrowed our favorite host's name for an article on the military:

Definitely not an accident - Tom was a contributing writer for The Onion.

I knew that.  I just thought it was funny that they gave him a shout-out like that.

The Onion also did a feature on a guy named Roger Dittman, who looks eerily similar to our Mr. Scharpling.
