Title: Washer and Dryer/Craigslist Superthread...
Post by: Andy on March 03, 2008, 04:33:08 PM
ok, I'm combining two related topics into one superpost:

Our basement flooded last year, ruining our washer and dryer.  We've had them looked at and it's going to be more expensive to get them fixed than to just buy a new set (they were really nice 4 years ago and are middle of the road now.  frontloading washer)

1) It seems really wasteful to throw out this washer dryer set, but I don't feel like paying $1000 to get them fixed when I could have the same set brand new for less.  Is this wrong?  Could I donate them or something?
2) People on Craigslist are crazy.  $200 will get you a one year old w/d set or a set from 1987.

Give them away.  If you were here, I'd say put them outside your house on a sunny day with a free sign; someone would be bound to take 'em.  Next thing you knew, you'd be hearing how s/he fixed them both for 47 cents and some string.

We have this website: twincitiesfreemarket.org

Anything like that exist in OK? From what I've heard, if you post on that site your junk is scooped up pretty quick. Otherwise, like Sarah said, do it old school and place the sign on it and hope it doesn't get carried away by a twister.
