Henry Rollins' spoken word show is coming to a town near us. Should I, a poor college student, spend $29 to go watch it?
-
well he talks longer then a Grateful Dead concert, so you get your money value

Ugh, I wouldn't. I'll admit, I went through a phase* where I actually bought Henry Rollins' poetry books.
Never again. Never. Again.
*When I was, like, 15. This was around the same time I rented Hardcore from Lion Video in Coral Gables, and I was freaked out by Henry Rollins chasing Lydia Lunch through a forest and essentially raping her mouth with his tongue. Yeah.

I love his cover of "Drums/Space."

no

...but not as long as Kevin Smith, so caveat emptor

Thanks FOT! I'm glad I asked.

$29 will get you a guest membership at most gyms for a month. Just something to consider.

And you can get a meathead to read one of his books to you at the same time for probably only $5 more, to get the experience of seeing him live.

I'll admit to being oddly fascinated with the older videos of Rollins doing spoken word. While it's true that stuff was insanely bleak, the Nietzsche-as-a-juvenile tone worked for Rollins. I'd still like to listen to him talk about touring with his band.
Then, someone told him that he was funny and he started in with the "comedy" routine. Yuck.

Whenever I go to see Rollin's play, I feel like I'm spotting some guy at the gym.
