Jesus's crown of thorns looks like a straw hat.

Spidey webbed him up a sombrero, you know, to keep the sun out of his eyes while he slowly died over three days.  And apparently just hung out at he top of the cross to keep him company?  Spidey's a good pal.  Even to offer Jesus eggs and BACON after he woke up from his deathnap.

A virgin birth produces cobwebs? Oh, I get it, Humphrey.

Moses looks like a fairy compatent superhero himself. The guy's just leaning back and letting the Hulk tidy up. Lazy Moses.

Actually Mary was supposed to have had a whole squadron of kids later on in life. Joseph was a BULL, I tell you. A BULL!

I think Mary stayed away from the cock.  Wasn't she taken to heaven whole b/c she was still a virgin?

They've done this kind of thing with other comics as well. There are a bunch of Christian Archie comics. That's not as weird I suppose.

I've seen those, but this comic has to be a joke. The cowboy hat? "Saving" Eve? The bacon thing... that's not an easy mistake.

Ugh, what battle am I setting my self up for? I don't even know what I'm defending. Damn you, Bible Spidey.

Also, Cain wasn't from Atlantis in the original, sans Spider-man Bible. He may be Atlantean in the Ultimate Bible, but I haven't been following that.

Yeah, I think the Archie comics really meant it.  I don't think anyone is proselytizing for Spidey, though I might start.

Any Jack Chick (http://www.jackchick.com) fans out there?  Eugh.  That stuff's like Werner Herzog for kids.  FUNdamentalism!

I think the Spiderman strip came from a magazine called The Wittenburg Door, which looks like a fundamentalist publication.  I couldn't find it archived on the site but it fits right in what what they are doing.

I've been collecting Jack Chick tracts for years.  Some of the most hilarious, scary stuff published.

It's pretty good, not great.  Bendis streamlined it a lot, and ironed out some of the contradictions in the word of God.  Some fans were upset about how he brought back Lot's Wife, but the storyline about the two Venom symbiotes on Noah's Ark is worth picking up in trade.

Well, if Bendis has gone into how Lot's wife was brought back rather than cover it in a two panel flashback synopsis at the beginning of the next issue, I think the fans would have been more on board with him bringing her back.  I think they just felt cheated that it happened off panel.   Did you ever get the What If Venom Possessed All The Animals on Noah's Ark?  I think Bendis is planning on hitting on some of that later on in Secret Invasion, somehow.  And I am pretty sure Lot's wife is a Skrull anyway.  She was shown with green eyes near the end of that last arc.

There was a time when I really wanted to pitch Ultimate Beetle Bailey somewhere, which would have moved the characters to an actual warzone and played as a cross between Three Kings and Buffalo Soldiers. There still would have been a dog wearing a sergeant's hat, though.

Haw haw haw haw!

(I'm trying out a new Chick-inspired internet laff).

Actually, Neil Numberman, can you help Wes out with this?
