Title: the long plastic hallway
Post by: noise.light on March 26, 2008, 06:40:39 AM
Dear Tom,

I just came across this image on Flickr and thought that you would appreciate it.  Perhaps you are already familiar with this quote but it's new to me.

I've heard that quote before, but thought it was about Hollywood generally.  I also like the mystery of the photo: why would someone go through the trouble of printing that quote out in (apparently) MS Word, then framing it, then shooting a guy in front of it?

I've heard a similar HST quote about the music industry:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

Reminds me of the less poetic opening trench analogy in Steve Albini's "The Problem with Music".
