Are any LA-area FOT interested in seeing Tim and Eric's "Awesome Tour" on May 5th at the Echoplex? Would it be worth it to try and plan another LA-area meet-up for that night? You tell me! It would be great to try and socialize again. I'm not really sure what their live show would be like, but if it sounds good...do it.

Aw, don't tell me that I killed the LA meetup thread with my stupid joke. I especially feel bad besmirching this thread because it was started by Susannah, who is a nice young woman who should not be subject to interenet creepiness, even in jest.
I'm sorry, people! I tried to grab the hilt of Kick The Bobo's excalibur of funny and was zapped across the room by a lightning bolt of lame.
In other news, it looks like I'll be coming out on May 10 for the opening of my play (will post on that elsewhere, can probably provide free tickets) and would like to do something fun. Is there comedy at this "Echoplex" every Monday night?

Dude, Just go to the fake UCB for the funny on the cheap. Other than that I don't know anything except PFT does a monthly thing at Largo that always sells out before I can get tickets, and Maria Bamford does a thing called "What's Up Pussycat" at some place in Los Feliz and people from the Kids in the Hall sometimes do stuff at the STeve Allen Theatre.

No problem. I need to check out more stuff too. I know that stuff exists, but I've honestly never gone anywhere except UCB. Hey, the last time I was at the Echoplex, I was there to see the Black Lips, and I saw YOU there too! Dorvid and Jouster are the ones with the street knowledge.
Also, Grote, I'm definitely going to your play when it happens. Let us know the deal!

Junk pretty much covered it. That weekend at the UCB Jr should be Match Game Live, which I (and Junk, no doubt) recommend highly. Check out a show at Largo - their regular comedy night is Mondays, and it's good stuff (although not as affordable as UCB). Neil Hamburger does a show irregularly at Spaceland. I don't know if one is scheduled while you're in town, but it's worth looking into, as he usually has some good guests. The show to see is Comedy Death-Ray on Tuesday nights, but it sells out quick so get your tickets as early as possible (they go on sale the Thursday prior to every show). Shows to avoid: Garage Comedy at El Cid on Mondays and pretty much anything at the Comedy Store or Laugh Factory (sorry so snobby, but if you're a fan of Best Show/the good stuff, you're not likely to enjoy them). Oh, there's a great new show at this comic book store Meltdown on Friday nights. Not only good comics, but no cover and free beer. I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting at the moment.

Thanks for the awesome advice! But actually who I'm really interested in seeing in LA is you guys. I just figured that everyone likes comedy, and while it would be great for you guys to come see my play and I am happy to try and get you guys comps, it's not about that for me, seriously. I don't want anyone to feel like they have to avoid me if they miss one of my plays.
That said, anyone up for comedy from May 10-14th (excluding the 10th, as it's my opening night)?
I also might need a ride.

Are you guys still going to this? I never bought tickets. I don't really know Tim and Eric's show. Is it sold out? I think I'm gonna miss opening night of Grotechella, but if you guys are in my neighborhood this week it'd be cool to get a drink before or after. But is anyone going?
