Title: Carnivale Appreciation Thread
Post by: Gilly on April 08, 2008, 04:52:40 PM
So I can talk about the one drama on HBO I've actually watched all of the episodes to. I was very sad when they cancelled this. Any other fans?

I liked this program!  The second season was particularly good.

Yeah, I agree. The first season was just building up all the characters and developing the premise. The second season really went in depth with the backgrounds and story. Then we got a blackout worse than the ending of Sopranos. I would have loved to see it picked up by another cable network. It could have easily been cleaned up for USA or FX.

This show was so good.  The ending wasn't even a blackout, It was almost a cliffhanger.  Like the end of Twin Peaks.  It's a damn shame that this show got canned.

I guess the production costs were really outrageous. You think they could have taken a lower budget and finished it up at least. I can't remember, did they announce the cancellation before or after that episode aired? It makes sense that it had the same fate as Twin Peaks because they were very similar shows.

Yeah.  It was defiantly in the Twin Peaks category.

I liked this show a lot. I actually enjoyed the ending. When I watched the DVDs, I didn't know the show had been cancelled and I just thought that was the way it was supposed to end.

We've just finished the first season which took its sweet time but I liked it and will soon move on to the next. I'm glad to know there's a pay off.

How was this thing supposed to end? Brother Justin devours the world or something?

Maybe we should avoid spoilers in this thread. Maybe not, I'm not sure.

Maybe we should avoid spoilers on John Adams and Rome as well.

Since we're not  avoiding spoilers, I'll do this:

SPOILER ALERT! (that was fun)

I think they were supposed to follow Sophie's character after she turned all dark. It would have been interesting to see where that would've gone. But yeah, I'm not dissatisfied with the ending. Sometimes shows stretch the story longer than they need to.
