This was waiting for me when I checked Netflix this morning:

Oh hippy parents, what are we to do with you.
Nothing, I suppose, as the damage has been done.
-
I heard that A.P. Mike has a controlling stake in Netflix.
-
Since a lot of FOT are Netflix friends, and I'm sure many have queued up Stroszek (like me), maybe it was looking at friends that liked similar movies to you and pulled out the most common title from their queues. (?)
-
One WEEK after the Together incident, Netflix recommended it to me. Spooky.
(It was right, too. I loved it).
-
Also, Michael Clayton was really good. I just watched it last night.

Word. Best Clooney film ever, and I like most of them.

Yeah, I liked it a lot, too. So many people hated on it when it got the Oscar nomination that I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.

I gotta say, Michael Clayton = instantly forgettable. Do you really think high-powered law firms have their own hit squads? Did you really buy that? Also, what was with that weird Equus moment? I know the writer had to get Clooney out of the car so that it could blow up without him inside of it, but did he have to make him stop to pet the horsies? Why not just have him pull over to buy a balloon?
Also, Tilda Swinton's twitching got on my nerves.

I thought you were going to say he stopped to put their eyes out.
-
I have not seen Michael Clayton yet, so I can not say much there. But does it top Out of Sight? That was my favorite Clooney film so far.
-
O Brother Where Art Thou? for the win.
-
Intolerable Cruelty?

I'd still pick Out of Sight over Michael Clayton.

the Out of Sight soundtrack makes it a one two punch knock out punch, and Michael Clayton is out for the count.

100 percent agree. I got through the movie so it wasn't bad but it was nowhere near great. I think the ending made a lot of people forgive the fact that the rest of the movie was just so-so. Clooney was good though and usually is.
-
Out of Sight, out of sight!
-
I respect Clooney more for what he does with his Hollywood clout.
Three Kings? will be the Dirty Dozen of our generation.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind? Excellent, if flawed.
Syriana? A little sprawling but way better than some Oliver Stone shite.
Keep it up Mister Clooney
-
Out of Sight? Really? Isnt that the Jennifer Lopez movie I thought that was awful.

Instantly forgettable, whereas Dogma and Stroszek command months of your attention.

I'm sure a few have. They represent them, they certainly have access. Only two people at the Michael Clayton firm discussed that stuff - it's not like it was a firm-wide conspiracy. Lawyers have never had people killed?

My dad thinks the three horses represent Michael, Arthur(Wilkinson), and Marty(Pollack), three lawyers who had slowly sold their soul, all of them suffering for it. They'd lost their way. (the horses were unfenced, next to a road.)
That moment, dad believes, is Michael's moment of clarity. The car blowing up is the light going off in his head - he sees the way to save himself. Head for the hills, Michael!
It sounds like a good explanation to me, though maybe you're right and the filmmakers put zero thought into their multi-million dollar Clooney film, hiring horse wranglers all willy-nilly.
Also, Tilda Swinton's twitching got on my nerves.
Yeah, the close-ups of her armpits were disconcerting, too - I guess that was just THE ROLE!!! She played an extremely nervous character! What do you want, Dean Martin?
I love you, APmike, so if my response to your movie review seems needlessly hostile, just take into account how much I miss The Wire forum, and how wrong-headed you were in there, too. :)

Whoa! Where'd Dogma come from? I've never endorsed that movie (or any other Kevin Smith movie, for that matter). And, yes, I still think about Stroszek often. Just the other day I was thinking about the scene where the pimps beat up Bruno S. and throw him on top of the piano. One of the pimps has a bell and he tries to balance it on his butt. It falls. Crazy! What was he thinking?! You can't put a bell on a guy's butt and think it's going to stay there!
I also miss our Wire discussions, Dorvid. Let's start another one: with 2 episodes left in Season 2 of Rome, I can confidently say, Rome > The Wire. That's right! Two seasons trump 5!

This happens to me all the time. I was driving by a sheep farm just a couple weeks ago and I saw three sheep grazing in a corner of a fenced in area. I immediately swerved my car to the side of the road. I approached the sheep. I addressed the first sheep: "You represent my lost youth." To the second sheep I said, "You represent my lost ideals." I couldn't think of anything for the third sheep, so I left it that.

Really? Wow, Rome didn't do it for me at all. I was bored pretty fast but I watched about 5 or 6 episodes of Season 1 just to make sure I was doing the due diligence. It's not Tell Me You Love bad, but I'd definitely place it near the bottom of my HBO series list.
What are your feelings on Carnivale, B_Buster? It seems pretty divisive but I liked it a lot.

I haven't seen Carnivale, MOS. I got a David Lynch knock-off vibe when it aired, so I steered clear. Plus, I'm afraid of clowns. If it ever shows up on HBO on Demand, I'll give it a try.

you won't be sorry.

If that was the intention then I just realized I like the movie even less.

I just thought they were nice horsies.

Way to spoil Stroszek for me, jerk.
I'm pretty sure you (Mike) will hate Carnivale, by the way. Although "hate" may be too strong a word.
I liked I, Claudius better than Rome.

Zing!

I couldn't think of anything for the third sheep, so I left it at that.
That's not what I heard. (HEY-O!)

After clicking on the Flixster app on Facebook this morning, this was the first thing that popped up:

Needless to say I rated it 4 stars, 'Funniest film I've seen all year'
