Opened the NY Times Style section today to a really nice surprise: a "Modern Love" column penned by Julie Klausner! Congratulations, Julie!

What a good read - thanks for sharing your story Ms. Klausner!
-
excellent story, thanks for sharing!
-
Nice Shania Twain reference!
-
Joanna, a singer, summed him up: “He’s an indie rock dreamboat. His voice is transcendent and he writes lovely lyrics. He has a nice face, he has a kid and he tours a lot. He’s a star in his world.”
Oh, Ms. Newsom. You are a crazy broad.
-
Damns! Ms Klausner sounds sad. Now I will not sleep.
-
Thank you!
I have to say, it was a little freaky having something so personal get such wide exposure (The Gray Lady, she gets around!) but I've gotten such kind responses from people who liked the essay, and this thread was just the best to read. Thanks all, seriously, so much.
GOOD GUYS WIN!
xoxo
PS. Dave: my moods are nothing that a glass of Zin' and a listen to the original cast recording of Brigadoon can't wash away...so rest easy!!

Yeah, awesome piece, and surprisingly heartfelt. My wife flipped open the style section and was like, "isn't this the person you're always telling me about?"

Or South Pacific!
Julie's gonna wash that man right outta her hair.

Great job, Ms. Klausner!
-
Julie I loved that!
-
Great stuff, Julie, congratulations!
-
Congrats! Who knew that such a funny lady could write for the article that always makes my girlfriend sigh and stare sadly at her pancakes on Sunday morning? Great article.
-
I heartily agree, although I remain dubious about the sultriness of fondue.
-
I'd just like to add that it was funny and also relatable. It would be great to read more about your take on modern love.

Yes, can we please put a moratorium on the use of the text message as a means of communicating anything other than "I'll be five minutes late?" I know Paul F. Tompkins echoes this sentiment, but lord, do I hate it. Getting asked out on a date via text has become a dealbreaker for me. How hard is it to make a phone call?
I am in a bad mood this morning.
-
Yes! Down with texting!
Can we add Instant Messenger to that list as well? Pick up the phone and TALK on it, you guys.
A few years ago I did have an idea to benefit from this electronic age of horrible dating. I was going to call it "Soul-crushing form emails for the dating deceased" and provide a service to those who want to end their brief relationships via email. Fill-in-the-blank emails and consultations, that sort of thing. After I got past the funny part of my confounding dating experiences (and they started being deathly depressing instead of darkly humorous) I abandoned the idea.

I actually got married via text message.

You mean, via pager, old man?

yikes...
although ill raise your text message wedding to meeting someone on myspace, after three days moving in with them/dating them/eventually becoming engaged-
the future freaks me out.

JK's like the Anka Radakovich for the new century.
I loved it!

I'll have you know that I'm very futuristic. I had my wedding on the deck of a Starship:

Just kidding, everyone. I met my wife before internet dating and we got married outside of a log cabin in Indiana. Also, I'm not that much of a nerd.
-
Any guesses on the ID of the dreamboat?
-
Spalding,
Love your monologues, regretted it was "just an evening"...I was devastated when you jumped off the Ferry.
That said, let's not dwell in the terrain of the guessing game. There are other sites for that information.
And I spell "class" F-O-T.
Thanks again to everyone on this site who had such kind things to say about my piece. You made my last 48 hours more Eddie Murphy, less Nick Nolte. What does that mean?
Julie

New sheriff in town?

Forget the "Modern Love" moniker, NYT needs a bi-weekly "This American Klausner" piece.
-
move over, Maureen Dowd!

move over, Maureen Dowd!
Yeah, way, way over. What can we do to get AM Rosenthal or whoever to fire Dowd and give us three Klausner op-eds per week?
Feeling kinda Nolte,
