That is if you know who Ms. Channing is....
I was looking thru this transcript and couldn't make heads or tails of her answer

not that it matters
just wondering
-
ACK God! Did Tim and Eric produce that? Great job!
-
Seems pretty clear to me that she's [UNINTELLIGIBLE] That, or she's [CROSSTALK]
So, yes. No! My, my. Great man, though, and a lovely girl. The best!

Your question prompted me to look her up on Wikipedia, which reports that her mother informed her when she went off to college--Bennington, no less--"that her father, a journalist whom Carol had believed was born in Rhode Island, had in fact been born in Augusta, Georgia, to a German American father and an African American mother."
Note: I just skimmed that transcript you linked to, and the thought of her autobiography being published without editing makes me want to cry.

that her father, a journalist whom Carol had believed was born in Rhode Island,
He was a writer for a Christian Scientist publication, I think--and I read that her grandmother chose Rhode Island because she thought he had a better chance of "passing" as Portuguese there.
I'm going to have to look this book up. A few pages should do it.

I still haven't recovered from seeing her dancing around in her bra in Skidoo. I know I've mentioned that here before, but you people refuse to read carolchanningbratrauma.blogspot.net.

I go to Bennington. They sell her autobiography in the bookstore. I've never given it a second thought, but now it might be worth charging my student loan the extra 30 bucks or whatever it is, just to see.

Bennington College in Vermont?
-
Yes. Is there another?
EDIT: Reading that back, it appears sarcastic, when really I'm actually just wondering if there is another Bennington College. I wish there was a way to express sarcasm/lack of sarcasm in typed form. Someday.

I don't know if there's another one. I was just curious because I'm moving back home to Manchester for the summer in a couple weeks. I didn't think there was anyone in the area that listened to FMU, let alone was an FOT.
-
Yeah, I live on a farm Cambridge, NY. I don't know if you know where that is...but it's about a half hour from Bennington (45 minutes from Manchester). I grew up in NJ, though, so that's how I know about FMU.
Yay, a fellow Vermont FOT. Hello!
Well if you don't have any late summer plans, you should come to the all day/night music festival my boyfriend and I put together every year, at the old Rexleigh Mill in Salem, NY. It's always the highlight of my summer. I'll probably post something in the FOT Extra Curricular thread when we get a definite roster of this years bands.
...and now back to Carol Channing.

Has anyone ever seen her son, Chan Lowe? I'm wondering if he could pass for Portuguese.
-
The real question is - is Tom Jones white?

Those Black Israelites are so frigging goofy.

Are you trying to disturb me even further, folksnake!?

I'd say so:

Of course he'd could also pass for a lot of other things as well.

We've found the button, and we shall commence to push it.

Those Black Israelites are so frigging goofy.
Back in 1996, I went to see "Independence Day" opening night at the Zeigfeld in NYC...at 3am! Anyway, the Black Israelites were there, and they were treating the whole thing like Rocky Horror....an angry, anti-semitic Rocky Horror. And every time the aliens blew up a landmark in the film, they would jump up and cheer.
I had waited til 3 am to see this movie (Who knew that Emmerich and Devlin were horrible yet?), which ultimately sucked...plus the Black Israelites were there to heckle. FUN WAS HAD BY ALL!
Oh wait, this was supposed to be about Carol Channing.

I knew someone who knew someone who knew Carol Channing's assistant. One time while Ms. Channing was in the bathroom, the assistant overheard her asking herself aloud, "When did I eat corn?"
Of course, I can't vouch for the veracity of this story.
