For those of you that don't hate it, tomorrow night: This American Life will be at cinemas nationwide.
Huh?
On Thursday, May 1st acclaimed radio and television host Ira Glass will bring the wildly popular show This American Life to the big screen for a one-night only event. Glass debuts never-before-seen extraordinary, funny and true stories from everyday life, shows outtakes, and answers audience questions. This exclusive theatre event will be broadcast LIVE from New York via satellite to select movie theatres nationwide. This one-night event features special guests and is presented in HD and Cinema Surround Sound.

I guess since they have the T.V. show, this is the next step. I don't know if I need to hear This American Life in surround sound, but if it's playing nearby, I suppose I'll go. I'm oddly attracted to Ira Glass' voice anyway.
EDIT: It's playing in Albany, but I've just come to realization that none of my friends will go with me, and there's no way I'm sitting in a theater full of old white people by myself. I'm trying to avoid thinking about how I will eventually become one of them.

That is odd. It's one of the reasons I don't like listening to the show.

I can't explain it, but I have seen this phenomenon of Ira Glass attraction in many of my female friends.
I have weird taste in men. John Linnell is another big crush of mine. I guess I just like dorky people.

I've always had an on-again/off-again relationship with This American life. I'll be into it for a few months, and then get fed up with it and stay away for a year or so, and then my distate slowly melts away and I'll dip back into it again.
My ladyfriend really wanted to see this. I suppose I'll end up going.

It's $20 here!
I like TAL, but only about $12 worth of like.

Truth. I can't stand looking at him every morning on the subway, though.

I thought it was a mixed bag. Some of the stories I liked (comedian kids, dental floss rope, horseriding kids) and some I didn't, but I guess thems the breaks with TAL. I really had a powerful dislike for the "Talk To An Iraqi" story. I thought that Iraqi guy was a real snotty douchebag, not to mention the unabashed South baiting/bashing behind the premise - what, did Michael K from the Cynics co-produce that one?
It was fun though, I guess. The outtakes with Ira nodding were silly, and I love that story about the couple meeting Jackie O.
20 bucks, though - yowza!
