Title: Chat
Post by: Dorvid Barnas on May 05, 2008, 12:33:59 AM
So a ton of people chatted when there was no show last week?  We might as well chat on those dreaded non-Tuesdays.
Post a thing here if you want to do that thing there.

I suggested this kinda half-jokingly in the chat the other night:

On non-show nights, everyone should cue up the same vintage show from the archives and chat about it.

No? Too geeky?

Yes. Wait, does "geeky" mean "awesome"?

that sounds like it might be really hard to coordinate.

I'd be into it.

I think it will be tricky to arrange, much the way setting up times for acrowars was (remember, Dorvid?).  It'll also be a tad tedious getting people in synch.  Nothing insurmountable if there's enough interest, of course.

I thought about the trouble syncing people up, but it seems like people who are listening to the live webstream are usually at slightly different points in the show due to lag etc, so it shouldn't be that different from listening to a live show.

Yeah, it would just be a matter of telling latecomers which archive to start up and what minute to go to (presumably we'd want to be listening to approximately the same thing).

 I miss acrowars.

I keep saying we should push for an acrowars revival, but then I don't have enough steam by the end of the show.  Someday . . .

that is a great idea!  Perhaps we could have a poll with a few past show choices and if it is allowed, someone could post the winning show in the a download thread if it isn't in the archive.  Anyone who wants to join the chat for that show could d/l it.  Or find an older show close to the current date to chat about?

Everytime I pass by this thread I think "that's going to be a total failure."

so would that be like the Zaireeka party of FOTdom?  It wouldn't be that hard, everyone just presses play at a specific pre-arranged time like 7pm central, 8pm eastern, etc.
the flyer could say:

1st FOTeeka Listening Party!
Thursday (date) at 7pm central time
bring diggs and a dish to pass

You read my mind, Dorvid.  The chat is cool, and I thought it was a bit of a bummer that it's only used 3 hours a week.  I thought another specific day/time would make it like a book club or sumpin'.

Archive idea is a pretty good one.
