**I'm modifying this thread for the sake of broader appeal.
What are some themesongs to radio or tv shows that you like? maybe there aren't any. I really love the intro song to Sinners Crossroads. Sometimes I just start the show to hear it. Go Sinners!
-
Tom's former use of the Rockford Files theme.
-
I can't get enough of the Frasier theme song! "tossed salad and scrrraaammbled eggsssss...."
-
I have always liked the theme from Barney Miller. And after hearing the theme song from Neon Genesis Evangelion a million times, I think I like it now. The extended Sonny Sharrock Space Ghost C2C theme is pretty cool.
What about dvd menu music? The remix of Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law theme that played over the season 2 dvd menu is cool. And I let the music for the Sealab 2021 Season 2's menu run for hours one day. Adult Swim shows tend to have cool musics.

The WKRP in Cincinnati theme is amazing. Also the closing song.

Not to take anything from the amazing song contest winners, but I wish that would be brought back in some way.
-
most of my favorites are instrumental, like the themes to angel and house.
but there's a special place in my heart for growing pains. show me that smile again.

First thing that came to mind, I'll probably think of more later.

Possible worst theme: Battlestar Galactica. New Age/wailing woman annoyingness.

I kind of like that one. Plus, when the drums come in, you know to shut your eyes so you don't see the scenes from the upcoming episode that they stupidly show during the opening.

I second that vote on the closing song. Yes, the battlestar theme is terrible. But even worse was the version of All Along the Watchtower that closed last season. Uggghhhh. (and I love that show!)

and I second the Rockford Files. It's my ringtone!

This is my all time favorite.

ha! i'm so glad i'm not the only person who does that!

I'm glad you chose the version of the theme song used in season 1 of Buffy, Stan. Not only does it have the little mistake, which I like, but it's much more raw and lively.
-
It was intentional, Sarah. I prefer the Nerfherder original versus the later version by The Breeders.

them horns give me the willies to this day.

I love this man:

this was before the whole Hustler ordeal in the 90's, at least I think it was in the 90's, and after that, they changed his screen name to Star Gazer. Go to this website and be delighted for hours:

I think I may have posted this on a thread a while ago, but this to me is perfect:

all favorites. particularly 'taxi'.

I second Jeeves and Wooster.
Dexter is pretty good-- not the music, but the opening:

-
We should throw the Shadowy Men's theme for Kids in the Hall in there for me. I can't really stand to hear it for too long any more, but they are still all-time favourite Toronto band.
-
I forgot about how great the Punky Brewster opening was.

What little mistake?
From a business standpoint, when Arista signed Nerfherder. Now that was a mistake.

This is a late night classic around here too, more of a neverending thememusic.

A pretty mediocre series, but a great opening sequence.

Weird, I was just learning that song on piano…

Wow, despite your qualification that does make me want to watch the show.
Let me plug DJ Waldie's awesome book "Holy Land," which is also about the creepy beauty of the suburbs.

The opening segment is good, but yeah, I can't really get into the show. They have a different person do the song every week-from bigger people like Elvis Costello to lesser-known musicians. My friend Sarah actually did one, but I don't know how to find it.

I haven't seen it in ages, but isn't this basically just a lift from Edward Scissorhands? At least the shot with the cars pulling out of the driveways, I think.
-
I think we have a winner with Erika's nomination of the Freaks and Geeks theme. It's the best one.
-
could only find a whole episode. but you need only first 35 seconds for this thread.

Every single song in the world should sample that guitar. Even opera.

Sure, the Quincy theme is good, but with lyrics it's GREAT

-
Freaks and Geeks is one of the best shows ever but I never liked the opening all that much or at least the theme song choice. It doesn't fit with the show.
-
Michael Shelley has played that Quincy theme with lyrics a few times.
-
I really like Ricky Gervais' use of melancholy songs for his tv shows:

If I recall correctly, Extras doesn't have an opening song, but uses Cat Stevens' "Tea for the Tillerman" as its closing song.
