Post by: Marlowe on May 21, 2008, 07:35:19 PM
Can someone explain this to me?

It took me a while to catch on to this -- I originally thought it was a sigh of relief -- but apparently it's the end result of years of gradual decay from a quick, enthusiastic "bye" to the thing it is today.

The explanation he gave is pretty much what Stupornaut said.

i used to do this (in high school).

albeit, it came about haphazardly, but was intended to convey excitement/tension/thrill...or something.

I think Tom might have suggested that this was how former WFMU DJ Hova ended his calls.

Getting one of these after a call pretty much made my year! It is the kind of nod you can find nowhere else.

I don't remember the explanation so much as remembering him say something like 'How annoying is this new noise I am doing is'. Its interesting going backwards in the archives and hearing how things that are constantly mentioned have their origins.
