Hey guys, I didn't really know where else to post this so.......
Sound Effects Board + John Cale = You're A Ghost!
http://www.divshare.com/download/4670739-c99 (http://www.divshare.com/download/4670739-c99)
(There's a little bit of a payoff at the end so hang in there)

Awesome! I remember that call. I still get irritated when I hear her say "Ok, tell me why."
-
I remember that call too, and it irritated the hell out of me at the time. This woman reminded me of someone who' might be standing in line in front of you at some store and has to launch into some lengthy, self-involved customer service complaint about a relatively minor dissatisfaction that you're forced to listen to only because you're standing behind the complainant. The ghost sound effect would be a nice thing to have at times like that.
-
Not just payoff, that was a PAY DAY!
That was great. I know I'm not supposed to let things I hear on the radio piss me off, but that woman made my neck turn red.
-
haha, that should be the bed music! That loud and everything.
-
one of my favorite GOMPs. and all i can think is, "ugh, lady...get a life."
-
they love saying "provocateur"
and woodstock film festival? ewboyy
-
um okay that was basically amazing
THANK YOU MIKE!
-
That was my pick for favorite GOMP of last year. I like how the anger sort of moves from one to the other - she starts out super-mad and Tom is totally calm, but as the call progresses she calms down and Tom gets madder and madder. The "You're a ghost!" is the perfect topper.
"I just talked about it for 35 minutes!"
-
MikeDevine: more, please.
-
That was awesome! With that music the first half reminds me of the in-game NFL glamor shots, all shot on high speed film and played in slow motion.
-
I Love IT.
-
This is great
Tom should play it as one of the opening GOMPs (YAGs)
-
I particularly enjoyed JC's reference to 'The Bishop' at the end...

i think he did, on the episode when PBR came to the studio several weeks ago.
that lady got me so mad. she calls in and basically says everything that tom was just tearing everyone apart for saying. he was JUST talking about how people were like "it's not about who bob dylan is, it's about who he is to US" or whatever, and then she says that EXACT same thing. when i first heard this all i could do was slap my forehead. JEEZ, lady. YOU'RE A GHOST!!!
PS -- love the added music.
-
Seriously, MikeDevine. Where have you been all my life?
-
Holy shit that was excellent.
-
That's amazing. I remember listening to that call on the podcast while trying to fall asleep and laughing out loud for a long time afterwards
-
uuuggggggghhhhhh this is amazing but that woman is SO ANNOYING

"I saw it twice - I saw it twice."
-
From the cadence and speech habits my bet is she lives in San Francisco.
-
Lady: "...and i think i could see it again."
Tom: "well good for you."
-
People in San Francisco don't go to Woodstock Film Festivals.

Pardon my inattentive listening.

p.s.--Is that just The Official North American Hippy Accent then?

i think so, her voice instantly reminded me of the cadence and accent of some people from cambridge. there's definitely a common cultural thread that runs through harvard square, woodstock and san francisco.

John Jerk is more like it!
(I kid)

There's a good chance it was Natalie Merchant.
-
I still listen to this constantly.
-
I vote that Tom should play this on air. It's hilarious. I would love to hear his reaction to the pwnage he laid upon that woman set to music!
-
A GOMP of the week, perhaps?
-
I still listen to this constantly.
This just popped up on my ipod during a train ride and I laughed so hard I cried.

MikeDevine has posted exactly once and it was pure gold. We should all have that kind of track record in life.
