Not to live in the past, but I would like to request a revival of some of the earlier bed music.
1) The Magnolia theme
2) Rockford files
3) The goofy japanese high energy song you used for awhile, loved that one.
-
Yea, the magnolia theme somehow worked really well actually, in the older shows i've listened to. I was really surprised to hear it at first. But it kind of reinforced the urgency and suspense of the best show.
I'm not sure I've heard the other two yet.
-
Rockford Files is overdue for a comeback.
Some other TV theme songs might also work.
For instance - this (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/sounds/mybrotherandme.wav) and this this (http://home.comcast.net/~linkman00/tv/Maude.mp3)
-
Maude is hot, but lets not overlook the Benson theme song.
-
Rockford Files and "Buzzsaw" are two old bed music songs that I would not mind hearing again.
-
Some goodies from old TV shows:
1. Match Game
2. The Jeffersons
3. The song at the end of All in the Family
There's this great song that is probably something from the 30s or 40s originally, but I remember it from this Warner Brothers cartoon where these two chipmunks ("No, you go first. No, you, I insist!") were having their the vegetable patch they lived in invaded by some big corporation with lots of trucks and equipment ("Vandals! They're stealing our vegetables!!"). It's a brassy little number that I can't describe, but maybe I can find an audio clip somewhere. It shows up in commercials from time to time, and is in a spot for the Visa Check Card that's playing now.
These are not necessarily requests, it's just that I'm thinking there are other good sources for bed music rather than revisiting previous ones. I do like the music from "Magnolia" and the Rockford Files.

Those are the "Goofy Gophers" Mac and Tosh.

I think the episode you're referring to is Lumber Jerks but the soundtrack listing on IMDb is just a couple "traditional" public domain type songs. The song you're talking about is more likely an unlisted Carl Stalling composition, he did all those Looney Tunes soundtracks, but I have no idear where one could find it on the web.

yatta yatta yatta yatta yatta yatta yatta yatta YATTA!
this was the bed music when I first joined the cult
-
YATTA! That was the upbeat music I was refering to earlier. I loved that bed music <sigh>.
-
Thanks for the Magnolia theme, Tom
-
I nominate Wizardzz.

Last show, both Yatta AND Magnolia, so excellent. Thanks Tom.
-
When I heard Yatta I was like...
"Wow, this is the last place I expected to hear this."
-
I want to hear some "Wise Up" by Aimee Mann.
And also... some 7 minute acoustic bass solo by Sathington. No really though, pretty soon I want to take that song (which I actually did write for the song contest, I didn't have it lying around, so it technically was TBSOWFMU inspired.) and re-record it with other instruments professionally. Once I do that, would you honor me by using that as bed music, Tom? It may even include banjo!
-
Long-time Listener...first-time poster.
I'm actually writing on behalf of a friend. He thinks that songs on the radio shouldn't include sirens because he always feels compelled to pull over. I like the bed music but agree that a change could be good. Any thoughts?
PS. He knows that he could simply pull-over and listen to the radio at home. It's just that he really enjoys driving while listening.

Are Omar's recaps leaking into the forums?
-
I miss Tom crooning along with Wise Up, but I suspect that era has passed. I would love to see the Yatta worked in to the mix more and I really miss the Rockford Files loop.
