Title: A Petey Appreciation Thread
Post by: Jixby Phillips on August 03, 2008, 05:04:33 AM
Every time I look at my avatar I realize how awesome it was for Petey to make it for me. I was basically a nobody when I came to the FOT board and I wrote some intentionally annoying message to Petey saying something like "SOMETIMES I'M A REAL PEST LIKE GOOEY BUBBLEGUM IN YOUR HAIR!" I wasn't actually expecting him to make an avatar for me, but he did! The avatar is a big reason I keep post here. I refuse to let it go to waste.

I also really liked Tokyo Sex Webshow and Birdies! I actually found them to be totally charming and inspirational, in that it inspired me to try harder to make stuff. I love it when dudes make stuff!

Petey, be more famous! Please! I'd like it!

Jixby, you could never be a "nobody"

And I heart PD too.

I liked him before he discovered drugs (I kid... sorta).

Petey is a great part of the show.  I think my favorite moment was when he freaked out on Bruce Willis ... Second Favorite?  Petey and Tom doing "Celluloid Heroes."

Petey is also a really talented and motivated guy. I need to send in my reply form from the last issue of the Mig. He will go far.

I'll always cherish Petey's birthday show, when Petey from the future called in. Actually, wasn't Officer Tom supposed to become rich / infamous / dead in 2008? I'll have to re-listen when I get home..

That was a great show. That show contains one of my favorite Best Show moments ever, which is just some dialogue between Tom, Petey and Faffer:

Tom: Hey Petey, you and Faffer talk while I dial this number.
Petey: So, Faffer...
Faffer: Yes, Petey?
Petey: You a good daddy.
Faffer: (a la Elvis) Thank you very much.
Tom: Ugh.

It always makes me laugh. And who could forget Petey singing "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" over the music to "Gotta Serve Somebody"?

Petey made a comment about one of my posts on this board, and I considered it a very kind and thoughtful comment. I never forget things like that. It's the little things in life.

When I first started listening to TBSOWFMU I thought PD was annoying but have since realized that his calls were/are usually laced with moments of pure comic genius and that he was actually much funnier than I had ever realized.

I am bumping this, because I was going through my old website's old guest book entries (shocked they still exist) and was very surprised to see what appears to be PETEY having signed my GUEST BOOK for my old comic "Zoonie and Marcus" in 2002 :o This would be years before I became a listener to the Best Show! Very weird. If it isn't Petey, it's a random person plugging his old homestead site. Petey, did you ever go by "baru" ?

I'll definitely say that Petey is a genius.  I feel like real life has temporarily put a dim on the genius (my only experience is through the show) - but he'll be back at the top someday.

I agree. Petey's always been ahead of his time, so it's the rest of us who need to catch up. Big ups, Petey, wherever you are!

Petey's getting ready to graduate from high school.  He's probably a little preoccupied.

Deep down in the Petey vault, a rarity was recently unearthed.
No, its not a Kinks Duet.  It’s a best show rap song made for an unfinished contest entry of mine.  The rap can stand on its own so enjoy.  He’s portraying a lowly gas station attendant named Shuckleberry.
