I had just heard he was in the hospital with pneumonia and they were making it sound like it wasn't a big deal, so this was really sad news to wake up to.

is pneumonia code for something else normally? Hard to believe average otherwise healthy adults die from pneumonia still.

This isn't right at all. Bernie Mac was far too wasted on this world.

From the sounds of it, it was the pneumonia coupled with his sarcoidosis (some kind of inflammatory lung disease).

I was sad (and very surprised) to see this when I started the internet this morning. I've been kind of expecting to hear that Paul Newman has died, so this really took me by surprise, especially since I didn't even know he was sick. He was always funny even if he was in bad movies.

It's a bummer. A friend of mine did a pretty hilarious/inappropriate myspace RIP bulletin:

The subject: "Bernie Mac RIP - It should have been Sinbad"

The body: "Sinbad sucks."

And that's all.

Incredible standup, unapologetic personality, and a genius at getting big laughs from mediocre scripts. What a bummer.

And now Isaac Hayes.

I hope this doesn't mean Bill Cosby is next...

Racist.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised. The last few times I've seen him on tv and such (he was here recently for a speech/spoken word series thing at one of the colleges), he's been kinda out of it. Plus, what is he, almost 80?

When he goes, that's gonna be rough.
