Title: Most overlooked bands who first came to prominence in the 70's?

I am eventually going to weigh in with a list, but am interested in your opinions. It dawned on me today that this has become my "sitewide opinions matter" site of choice.

Shoes - Black Vinyl Shoes

They never actually came to anything resembling prominence, but they made some (to me) fantastic home-recorded power pop that sounds unlike most anything recorded in 1977.

Anything that I said would just be the typical junk that music guys already know about.  Hawkwind, Pink Fairies.

Boston's eponymous album springs to mind.  I don't think I've ever heard any of those songs on the radio.   ??? >:(
