Title: English Premier League
Post by: samir on August 13, 2008, 02:50:19 PM
Any interest among FOT of having a Fontasy Premier League? I know at least two of you follow the thing, so let me know asap and I'll start it up.

Martin, I'm relying on you here.

I have never been involved in any kind of Fontasy League - I barely know how it works, and why.

So you have to convince me it's super fun. I'm not that keen.

Also, I'm kind of superstitious and usually don't like to speculate or gamble on teams I support/follow.

HOWEVER: it starts this Saturday! I couldn't be more excited. I have been very careful not to have anything planned this weekend. I'll probably watch 4-7 games.

I'll play. Soccer fantasy is salary cap right?

I'm in if you start one Samir. Who's your team? I'm banking on my Wigan boys to finish top 12 this season.

Despite our only squeezing two past that c-word Mclaren today, I'm an Arsenal fan. God knows why, though.

If you're interested in playing, send me a PM with your email address!

They're a good side, Twente, and I believe Wenger has a poor-ish record against McClaren in general. Safely through though.

Anyway, PM'd.

Are Barnet in the premier league yet?

Sadly not. But they are back in the league, which is something. They keep getting rejected trying to move from Underhill.

If you don't mind the nearly completely uninformed participating, I'll enter...

I wish! He'd be a better coach.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_McClaren is the culprit.

Do it, Matthew!
I'm only a couple of notches above "completely uninformed".
Today's the last day, PM me your email asap!

I got battered last season, so I'm not starting this back up this year - in case someone else wants to take the reins.

What about World Cup Fontasy?  Teams are announced June 1.

I would join that for sure.

I am not a big follower of soccer/football, but doesn't Diego Maradona coaching a team seem like a bad idea?  Cocaine rehab and gastric bypass surgery in the same few years?

Very bad idea, yes. If they're successful this year - and they have the talent for it - it will be despite Maradona, not because of him.

I can't remember if anyone else here is a Liverpool supporter but these last 2 seasons have been rough stuff  :(

I don't pay attention to them like I used to, but it would be something else if they were relegated.

This was a rather remarkable video put together by Liverpool fans before Hicks and Gilette were kicked out.  Ian McCullough is in no way overstating the case by comparing H&G to rapists.
